The one thing this post does show that's wrong with the petition system is that people will petition ship losses for ANYTHING so it's no wonder we're getting such a backlog.
Your mates lost their ships because they didn't pay attention to what they were shooting. That's not CCPs fault, it's theirs.
Oh and saying "I'm leaving and taking all my XX accounts with me" is a pointless threat that's been made by players since the Eve started and yet it's still here.

There's nothing worse than expecting them to do you favors by claiming that you're taking x accounts away. Even if people believed it, which they don't, they still wouldn't care.

I love how when someone quits because they didn't get their way, they always seem to take 5 accounts with them.
"I am quitting because I died in the game and my friend is quiting too. Oh yeah and he has 327 accounts"
Good riddance you little tulip.

the more people who leave that have multiple accounts, the better imho :) I personally find the concept of one player controlling two+ characters highly unbalanced. It essentially asks one to double their subs to remain 'equal'.
But hey, that you can't train multiple chars at the same time on one account, or indeed play multiple chars, means a nice 'little' money spinner for CCP. oh well.

What I don't get in this thread is that:
a) there is a bug with with notifications, has been for %$^&ing ages. b) it sounds like the two players in question had just come back from lowsec (nosec?) from doing stuff that had nothing to do with cans as I can see this as the only reason they didn't know about this bug already. c) if the first time I come into contact with a bug that means I lose my ship, I'd petition too, what ever the ship. d) having filed said petition, if ccp then said 'nope, can't see the bug' when it's been know that those alerts are bugged, I'd get ticked off too (though probably not to that extent).
Oh and the yellow can icon is also bugged. If you are in gang and near by when the can is made then it's white, it only goes yellow if you warp out then warp back, least that's been my own experience, though it's not always predictable.
This is a sig...

Looting other peoples cans should give killrights, half the time, as seem to be the code these days anyways, not Concord response and a blanket killing.

Well, I see that the level in the EvE online forums is still one octet only above a waste collector. Nice to see some things will never change :)
Going back to empire from 0.0 sounds already like a "I hate that" situation. People doing so must already be pretty ****ed.
This guy is telling us that GMs don't do their job.
There is only two possibilities : 1 - The player made an error, the GM was right 2 - The GM made an error, the player were right
I'm fine with NŠ1. But I'd hate to see it was NŠ2, whatever the subject is, whoever is the victim.
Personnally my last experience with a GM has been perfect (less than 10mn for an answer). I just hope it'll stay like that. But I *cannot* forget that the previous petition, even if I was confirmed right, took more than one month.
This makes me think about overworking GMs, a too small budget for customer support, and the fanboytards don't help GMs by blinding denying any problem, they just help CCP not hire more of them.
Back on topic : this guy says the GM made an error. Well, if it is the case, it seems because it's a new bug, not yet listed, isn't it?
If it is indeed so, OP, you can do something : grab another friend, a couple of frigs, and reproduce this bug. Once you are confident and get a 100% reproductible bug scenario, contact another GM, explain him the step by step how to make it happen. This GM would then confirm the bug. Once it's done, contact the reimbursement petition GM, directing him to the bug-hunter one, with this new info.
Once the situation is fixed, contact your friends telling them they can come back.
Or do nothing and watch them leave.
Your choice.
Have a nice day.

Checking the warning system.
It checks out as working, it is likely your friend has deactivated the warning popup he would have once received in the past. Since the warning is deactivated, he shot a non-corped can; an agressive action. This, within empire space, would result in a Concord action. It did, and this action was as per current game mechanics.
There is no bug here. It is unfortunate that your friends were so irritated by the adjustment back to empire space from their 0.0 past, but the system is working.

(a) GMs are not bughunters. (b) It's not a bug. You can't just go around empire shooting other people's cans; it will get you a Concord response. You can learn this the easy way or the hard way. The easy way is with the warning message enabled, the hard way is with the warning message disabled (and if it's disabled, it's disabled because you disabled it yourself). =AFK=
