I think the npc rat idea was a good one. If they can destroy a barge in 3 minutes but have very little hp's, then active players should be able to fend them off.
Or you can take an idea from the missions and put explosives in the astroids (that go straight to hull). I do not know if macro can run damage repair mods or not, but it is an idea. If you use the "password" method, the person who gets punished will just claim he missed it or was distracted or something else and whine like crazy.
But no matter what system you try, someone will find a way around it. Thus the only true answer to enforcing rules is, as was said, active human participation and enforcement. Which is not hard, just time consuming. And since it is not being done, one could say that CCP does not care enough to do it.

CCP have several GM's assigned to macro mining/isk farming. The problem is that most of the isk farmers have a human manning a number of accounts, this allows them to deal with the unexpected and replay to GM's etc claiming that they were away from the keyboard due to a call of nature. Most of the ISK farming via mining is done by sweat shops as the fully macro'ed operations are to easy to spot and disrupted.
As for having a code word as the can title, I personally name my can based on the time it created (so I know then it will pop) and that I am putting into it.
If you relay on players deploying cans with specific codes, four things will happen.
1) players wil forget to enter the right code.
2) People will come along and steal/pop the can with the code for fun.
3) the patitioners will be ignorent of the meaning of the code. After all some don't even bother checking standings or corp history and just assume any barge in a belt is a macro.
4) The people behind the isk farming will set up a account and just use it like any other player. Playing 3 or 4hours a day starting after down time to get the codes.
Remember, for the people behind the isk farming this is a business worth a lot of money to them, they will monitor what is happening both in game and out of game (like here) so that they know that is happening. for example they would look at the patch notes and known issues so that they can avoid problems. The people that do the farming may not have an idea about the game machanic's work but there bosses do.
After all they have used the tools that players have created to work out the quickest way to train toonies* up to get into the barges, the best mining fitting and that ore gives the best isk per hour.
*I say toonies as they are not realy characters as they are not played as such must a tool they need.
CCP need to consentrate on reducing the market for $$ to ISK buy stopping the buyers. If the demand goes the supply will dry up.

Originally by: monkeyduck Just blow up anyone with a number at the end of their name, or those who look like they just ran their finger up and down the keyboard to choose their name. Chances are you've found one and, if not, it's their unfortunate luck that they couldn't be more creative so beat them with the creativity stick for good measure. Problem solved.
Deosn't work that way. Due to things like Yahoo requiring you to use unique IM names, etc many players use the same names for their characters so their friends can find them easy. Shoot someone that has a name like John9973 then look and you can probably find find someone with the same Yahoo name that is now ****ed at you....
Only way to find a "true" macro is to look for patterns that spread through multiple areas/regions. Find multiple people mining into cans that are named leet55 in several areas and you have probably found the latest marco program. Even if you find a ship that has been mining for 23 hours a day, 5 days a week and you STILL haven't nessessarily found a macro, but you have found an account sharer which is also against the EULA.
Add this to thefact that the "legitimate" miner that is chattering in local, moving their ship around, controlling their drones to shoot rats, etc might STILL be a macro just because he is tired of manually dragging a the contents of his barge into a can every 3 minutes because the holds on the ships are so small and you have an impossible to police situation.
Its CCP's job to get rid of macros if they want too and will do what they think is needed. Its our job to report suspicious activities to help that job. It is NOT our job to enforce CCP's EULA or find methods of dealing with things that CCP has built into their game and every time you do you are being no better than the gankers that sit outside newbie areas baiting a 1 hour old player. <-----------> Keiron: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=427556&page=2

my personal opinion is that if a macro, a brainless bot, can do what your doing, then it's not worth your time.

Originally by: Malcanis So... why don't *you* do that? The reseller has no legal recourse against you since what they're trying to sell isn't your property. Go score youself a couple of billion free ISK and come back with a report of how it worked out. If it's good, then we'll all do it and strip them in a night.
As Wyehr pointed out, it's fraud.
I don't have the legal or financial means that CCP does, nor would I have the moral high ground. The reseller may or may not have legal recourse against me, but my bank most certainly would. At best, I'd be jeopardizing my account (buying ISK is a TOS/EULA violation). At worst, I could be criminally prosecuted. I'm not interested in gambling with either.
In short, this isn't my battle... it's CCP's. It's their property that's being sold. It's their game service that's being compromised. They have both the wherewithal and justification to take these resellers on. I don't.

..... this is so true that is sad....(2x here, had GM check on me...)
and yes.. I have sucide gankers go after me cause I am Chinese, in an npc corp.. (not interested in corp politics atm... besides, I dont do much but chat... ) and in a barge...
most of those "macro hunters" are really just griefers/pirates...
in the end, I wonder why ccp dont add this message at login:
"Buying isk from a 3rd party source with cash will result in punishment of the removal of 10x the purchased amounts, by logging in, you accept this reality."

I was being sarcastic in such that my idea would work equally as well as Channels with Can of the Day names (since the majority wouldn't read it). Though I was serious about beating them with the creativity stick.

I agree with the creativity stick :)
The problem is what you said is one of the accepted methods of proving someone is a macroer, and very flawed. Gankers use it as justification to shoot/gank without verifying their facts <-----------> Keiron: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=427556&page=2

There is no real way to identify them as a player.
The OP suggestions would turn off many legitimate miners. You already have to keep an eye out for rats, have to move your ore out quickly if you continously mine, adding another tedious step just won't help.
In truth CCP is the only one that can tell who is macroing and who is not. They just fail to devote the resources to do so.
It is a low priority item it seems to them.
