Ratting Sanshas In A Command Ship (Astarte) (never ever entering pvp with this particular astarte) Anyone done this? And from ur experience what fitting works best?
Woud be much appreciated
ps. i can also fly sleipnirs and in a few months absolutions, if anyone got experience flying 2 of these 3 races and can make a little comparison.

considering you can 0.0 rat in a cruiser, I think that any basic fitting from the sticky, or any fitting that sticks to common sense, will be plenty of overkill.

well getting it to work is one thing but getting it to work at max efficienty is another.
i trained command ships for the sole purpose of getting more isk/hour from ratting.
i checked the thread for the astarte and the RMR fittings in there are ancient and not specifically aimed at ratting sanshas in belts.
theres gotta be people out there with hands on experience?

Aye hence i figured a absolution might be a good id to train for(need to do amarr cruiser 5 and some gun skills).
For now i need to figure if the astarte or the sleipnir woud be the best and what sorda fitting that woud be with.

Sanshas are also weak to thermal, so its not all bad. Just use blasters and T2 EM drones (they do more damage against Loyals and True Sansha than thermal drones).
If I had an Alt I would probably post with it... |

woud this be the right fitting to go with for the astarte ya recon?

Dual rep and a cap injector/800s might be better. ------------------- My opinions (ie, all of my posting here) are not my corporations. Nor should it be taken as such. |

Cap injector + ratting = nono. Only, and probably not even then, if you're ratting in a system with a station.

nah booster charges are mad to use those for npcing in belts:p
i tested the setup and it seems to work decently, since it can run the mwd pretty much non stop the fact that it has little range on the blasters compared to rails still seems to make it worth using blasters for the dps difference.
Now i wonder how a sleipnir woud perform? Anyone got experience ratting with one?

Do you really need the thermic hardener or could it be swapped out for a magstab.

Didn't see it was for ratting, silly me. Still, I can see the Dual reps being handy. The one might not be able to keep up, even with the bonuses from the ship. ------------------- My opinions (ie, all of my posting here) are not my corporations. Nor should it be taken as such. |

Just turn it on and go for it.
Assuming that your going to farm high end bs's only you could switch a web for another cap recharger and keep everything running sexy. Ive been doing this for gurristas and it works like a charm.

Ammo is a complete non-issue for me, i got tons of minerals im not using from the loot i melt and i got a carrier to move ammo around when needed.
As for how much and what sorda reps i need. Im running 1 medium rep now non stop and that seems to just about be enough for tanking triple bs spawns. 1 small one woudent be enough, 2 mediums woud be overkill.
As for switching the thermic hardener for a damage mod.. dunno but im just barely repairing enough as it is. as the sanshas shoot with lasers with EM and thermal it coud get to dangerus to nerf the tank more.
The astarte setup im using seems to work, and the main flaw of the astarte as a ratting ship becomes apparent. It has a very crappy cap regen and is designed to cap injector tank (pvp not belt ratting).
Now i been looking at the sleipnir (i dont own one yet), but a guy told me that: 7 guns and a nos passive em hardener , large shield booster II, shield boost amp pdus for cap and some damage mods. Woud work very well. Because a lott of the shield tanking can happen passively and the sleipnirs high base resistances it needs little in the ways of tankign modules. I figured that since u need little tanking modules u can fit lotts of damage modules.
And say a sleipnir with 3 damage mods vs the astarte that needs to fit tons of cap relays and rechargers to sustain its tank, the astarte having more base dps from blasters might have less dps after applying 2-3 damage mods to the sleipnir guns? im not sure about the damage type the sleipnir does how it compares to hybrid guns though...

if ammos not an issue
astarte
7x heavy neutron t2 antimatter ammo mwd, web, 2x cap recharger med rep, 2x passive rat type plates, mag stab / cpr
may be worth having jamming drones in drone bay against hostile players or hammerheads t2 if thats not an issue
rep amount rig and maybe cap recharge rig if you dont need a pg rig
resists should be high enough so 1 rep should easy be enough

I'd go for Sleipnir, easier to tank in that one while doing nice damage.
7x 720mm Howitzer Artillery II (Quake M) 1x Medium Diminishing Power System Drain I
1x Pithum A-Type Heat Dissipation Amplifier 1x Pithum A-Type Magnetic Scattering Amplifier 1x Pithum A-Type Medium Shield Booster 1x Invulnerability Field II 1x 10MN Afterburner II
3x Gyrostabilizer II 2x Power Diagnostic II
2x Core Defense Operational Solidifier I
87 EM/82 Thermal resistance. Pithum Booster ups your shield for 313 every 2.17 seconds if you ever get into serious trouble. Has about 309 DPS against Sansha Beast Lord (takes roughly a minute to down it at 15km range).

86 EM/Thermal resists, cap-stable (35 cap/s needed, 42 cap/s recharged), about 280 dps VS beast lords while not having to go close-up (36km optimal with Antimatter ftw). Switch rails for Neutron Blasters for extra damage (310 DPS vs beast lord), but then you'll want MWD instead of AB as well and cap won't be stable anymore (it'll invert to 42 needed/32 recharging per second). Corpum rep on Astarte = win. 643 HP every 9 seconds.
Edit: put 2 repair time rigs in on top to go crazy (643/6.5 secs) _____

In the case of sansha ratting, this is wrong.
Feel free to use cap injectors; The reason for this was when I used to rat sanshas, pretty much any and all ships in 0.0 drop cap boosters, be whatever size they are.
When I noticed that, I fitted one injector, and it just worked wonders. Free'd low slots (no need for cap relays). Every 2 out of 3 kills would get me 10 boosters of whatever size, i'd keep a few, and would keep the injector on constant use, so many were the boosters.
...who of course promptly went bat****, flipped out and killed some people. |

Ratting + blasters = meh, the only rats you can rat with blasters imo are Angels (not sure about serpentis).
All other rats stay at various ranges, so efficiency-wise rails would be faster. Since you don't have to get in range.

Serpentis + blasters work very well. They stay reasonably close, and with a webber it isn't much trouble.
Guristas + Blasters doesnt. Not because of range, but because they have high jamming strength VS Gallente ships, in a Deimos I spent more time jammed than firing, eventually just went back to using alt + raven. -----

absolution fitting? 6 x T2 heavy pulse with multi (and some long range ammo if spawn is far away)
1x 90% web 1x cap recharger II 1x 10mn AB II
1 x energized reflective membrane II 2 x energized thermic membrane II 2 x cap relay 1 x true sansha heat sink
This seems to have the cap hold at about 40% with everything running non stop.
Something i dont like about the absolution is its cap regeneration rate sucks bad. It seems to be completely uncapable of running a sustain dps / tank + mwd fitting. The only sustainable setups seem to have to be with ABs.

No one recommends 250mm rails t2??
Since this is sansha then they stay like 20-40km from you? if so then 250mm rail fit would be good. With good skills you do around 400dps(enough to pawn most spawns pretty fast) no need for mwd.. exept to loot. You can hit up to 30-40km I think with AM.
So: High: 7x 250mm t2 (AM) Mid: mix of cap rechargers and tracking comps. Low: 1x Medium rep, 2x EANM, rest is mix of dmg mods and cpr.
Astarte pretty much pawns, so you should maybe be able to npc in semi pvp fit. 1 disruptor etc.

I have done ratting Sanshas in an Astarte and its good fun, though i prefer a Thorax since its about 10 times cheaper, more maneuverable and although a little slower killing rats....its 10 TIMES CHEAPER! :)
For the Astarte though I generally had 7 Neutron Blasters, MWD, web, scrambler, 2 Mag stabs II, MAR II, DCU II, EANM II, cap booster and anything else I fancied really.
The reason....An Astarte is too expensive a ship to gimp fit for PVE. In 0.0 PVP has a habit of finding YOU so you can't say you'll NEVER PVP...And since the gank PVP fit generally slaughters all sansha spawns without any trouble anyway...not to mention a free supply of boosters to chew on from the rats to keep cap high. Its just 10x more useful too if you go help anti-pirate.
5 Light ECM drones can be handy too for jamming that pesky inty tackler of a gank fleet while you warp out.
- Ideas are my business...maybe thats why I'm always skint! Please read my ideas |

Myrmidon with Ogre/Praetor II and Lasers in high.
6x Focused Beam Laser II
10mn AB II 3-4x Cap Recharger II 0-1x X5 Web
Medium Armor Repairer II Armor EM Hardener II 2x Armor Thermic Hardener II 2x Heat Sink II
5x Ogre/Praetor II
This should make sausage of Sansha.
Highs can be whatever of course, but i figured Focused Beams would fit atleast. Heavy Beam II`s perhaps?
