Hello all,
Anyone have any thoughts on what ship / setup is best for blitzing through lvl3's as quick as possible ?
I can fly minnie hacs, command ships (very soon !), and minnie & Caldari BS's. Im currently think maybe drake or sliepnir but im not really an experienced mission runner, just thought i would try some out for a change.
Any help appreciated.
kthxbye

Drake with passive shield tank and Assault Missile Launchers will chew through level 3's pretty quickly.

Why on earth would you use assault missile launchers? Heavy Launchers will work far better... it's not even close as to which is better to use on level 3's. Even if you meant heavy assault you'd be wrong.
The drake is the best ship though. It will tear through level 3's easily, with a passive tank as said.

Well, to be honest, the Myrmidon performs even better in most L3s, and you can "loot and salvage" while the drones do the dirty work for you.
1 invul or rat-specific hardner, 4 LSE (or 3 LSE + 1 web), mix of PDUs/SPRs in lows (depending on capacitor skills and rest of fit), purger rigs highs: 1 civilian gun or one laser (no ammo needed) just for stage aggro + tractor/salvager mix of your liking drones: either 5 heavy, or 4 heavy and 5 light (depending on wether you use the web or not) _ MySkills | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

Often lots of frigates on L3s, which is what assault launchers are designed to deal with.

Edited by: Ernst Cartmanov on 01/04/2007 08:17:38 True but standard missile range is poor and heavies hit frigates quite adequately unless your missile skills are poor. Heavies can hit 75km or more.
Er4zor my other character is chasing standing for all the Caldari R&D corps on level 3's using a nighthawk. x6 heavy launcher II's and resists all 85% plus, it rocks. Warp in set course to next accel gate and kill everything on the way there.

Edited by: Hugh Hefner on 01/04/2007 11:23:24 From my own experience of farming a level III-agent for LP(needed to get it up to a certain level before moving on to level IV) Raven rules when it comes to finishing a level III quickly = Cruise launchers. Just aggro whole room, take out non-frigs with the missiles, set your medium drones on the frigs unless its mwd-frigs = light drones. Target painter will speed it up a bit if you have poor drone-skills.(since you will have to use some missiles on the frigs)

I like to use a zealot with beam lasers and standard crystals, you can hit any frig at 50km and as it's only level 3 they pretty much insta-pop, and then the rest are easy to kill. Not so good vs guristas if they jam you until the frigs get in close, but a web won't hurt your fitting too much...

I know it's not one you've mentioned being able to pilot, but my Apoc cleans up level 3's nicely, and with no ammo cost, other than the occasional cap booster in one or two missions (Angel Extra bonus room for ex.)
I use beams so frigs insta pop at range, and if they get too close the drones clean them up. I suppose it's not the fastest ship against Guristas or Angels, but it's not bad. For in-system missions, from warp in to warp out I've got approx. times of: (small mission)'What Comes Around Goes Around'- 2-5 minutes, (medium misson) 'Unauthorized Military Presence' - 10-15 minutes, (big mission) Angel Extra + Bonus Room- 45 minutes.
Not as fast as a missile spammer, but no ammo costs, so pure profit.

Myrmidon, lol, no offense, I like the little buggers(drones), but to mention Myrmidon before Drake, are you serious, really?! I tried it out of course, perhaps it is because I lack T2-guns or something, but for me it took close to twice the time of doing it in a drake.(drone-travel-time and all that, not to mention aggro-problems = having to haul the drone back = more waste of time) Well perhaps I simply tried out the wrong missions.

With the Myrm, the main bonus is looting while you go.
You get aggro from all the NPC's, turn on your tank (if not using passive), release the drones and have them attack an enemy, then simply start salvaging/looting. Even regular Ogre's do a fine job... you don't need anything in your hi slots but salvage/tractors. It eliminates the time it takes to come back with a salvaging ship after the fact, even if it does take sligntly longer to complete the mission.
Or you can go make yourself a sandwich after releasing the drones and come back to find the grid clear.
Although I suppose you could AFK as easily with a drake shooting FOF's... but you'd still have to come back to salvage (or lose damage potential).
I imagine a Myrmidon with a bank of medium autocannons and a passive tank would complete missions just as quick as a drake, especially if actively directing the drones.

Cerberus. Slightly less DPS than Drake, but faster/more agile and a bigger cargo hold. Can tank any level 3.
Only downside is it can't fit a salvager (if you fit 5 heavy launchers and a tractor).

Nothing beats a Raven with 6 T2 cruise and 2 Faction Smartbombs.
It's overkill for sure.

For level 3, a passive tanked drake should work very well. Or a raven with cruise missiles, 2 target painter and 2 smart bombs.

I'd say the Drake. There are loads of cruisers and battlecruisers in lvl3's and the Drake pops them like no other.
You can down most pith cruisers in 2-3 volleys. BC in 3-4. Thats 13-30 sec per cruiser/BC. Frigs go down fast together with drones and i guess destroyers are a non issue for any good ship setup.

Navy Apoc
8 Dual Heavy Beam II's
1 100mn AB II 1 Cap Recharger II 2 Tracking Comp II's
1 Centus X Type Lar 2 Centus X Type Rat Specific Armour Hardener 3 Heat Sink II 1 Beta Reactor Control Cap Power Relay 1 Tracking Enhancer II
1 Armour Rep Amount Rig 2 Cap Control Circuit Rigs
5 Hammerhead II's 5 Hobgoblin II's
Runs level 3 missions very fast, cruisers virtually insta pop. Frigs at range insta pop. Drones handle anything which is too close. Range is well over 80km. AB is needed for long gate transits.
Expensive overkill but racks up LP's fast.

Drake will do fine. Just use the right damage missles.

Drake. Set up the right hardners and use the right ammo and you can just AFk w/ FoF's 90% of the missions. No other ship can do that.
