hey all, saw this dev blog and thought it be an interestng topic.
Blog
Im refering to the bottom of he page were Oveur says "It's _not_ the most uber combat ship ever. If you are looking for combat abilities, you should check out the Dreadnought." about the titan. I feel this is not how its come out in most aspects; but im interested to see if others feel the titan is what this quote/blog describes or not.

yep, and as it already lags far too much as it is, less Fleet PVP = a good thing. Blobs are bad ok ?

no but, fleet pvp = must because of how sovirn etc works today, you need alota caps to kill pos's then you need alota ppl to support the caps. In my opinion the road to less blobs is not titans, its fixing/ getting rid of pos's.

Titan = press one button and blow up 9,000 ships, IMMEDIATELY cyno out, rinse, repeat.

Current Fleet PvP = Gaming Style CCP wants to minimize. Perhaps changes in Sov. rules are coming to enable smaller fights?

oh yea i know what you mean, but at present the server still cant hack it, and the fact that they are trying to cut down the amounts of ships used suggests they never will.

actually you can send the weapon THROUGH a cyno field, you dont even have to be in the battle itself, if what I read is correct. never having taken part in a titan battle or flown one, I am not 100% certain on that :)

Well, if blowing up a fleet (or goodly chunks of it anyways) via a remote cyno field, and thus being relatively safe at a pos/SS doesn't qualify as "the most uber combat ship ever", I think Oveur and I differ on some pretty fundamental definitions of eve-reality.

Confirmed Titan kills so far:
2 killed while pilot was offline 1 killed in process of being built
what does that tell you about how uber it is?

Titans have destroyed all the excitement and fun in this game for me. There's no use even fitting T2 anymore on your fleet ships, because you know you'll lose them. Strategy doesn't matter anymore, just push a button and you win!
It's truly horrifying to see such a great game get ruined by such a worthlessly thought out game mechanic.

Whats the problem with Titan's? The are expensive to use and powerfull, if you want to do fleet pvp against a titan, bring your own with you and some dreads...
If you want to fight with Frigs against Titans, you should rethink the strategie and invest in the bigger or the biggest ship. If you dont have the resource for a Titan, then you maybe play in a to big field. Espect to loose the same amount of ISK like your enemy.

LOL, it costs 20m for the mins to use the doomsday weapons; which is utterly nothing for major alliances. Even the price range of 60b for a Titan aint even that much for major alliances. Eve shouldt be come who has the most titans on the battlefield to hold space.

Why not?
Titan is a Alliance Ship and CCP wants to have the Alliances in 0.0. Build your own Titan's or run away if you see one.
In my oppinion its a way to early to say anything against Titans. To develop taktic and strategie against titans needs some time and some losses too.

No, the net effect is everyone who got there first will always own it because no one else will ever be able to get to 0.0 to claim sovereignty to put up a POS to build a Titan.
And it is not too early. It is exactly the right time. In about 6 months someone will have 3 Titans (possibly a lot less time) and wherever those 3 go, no one will ever be able to attack it.

I don't really understand why titan was introduced like this. People say it was to prevent blobs but so far alliances have showed that they blob even more just to take down POS'es with Titans being built in them. It's not like people would stop using titans once the blobs are gone either, they would keep using the doomsday device on smaller gangs.
