The past few days I noticed some weird 'glitch' when opening items and containers, yet didn't bother to pay too much attention to it. But, today this glitch was there just a little longer so I could actually read what it said.
This thing said 'category'.
Intrigued by this message that came and went in the blink of an eye, I started investigating this unknown message. I noticed that this only happened when you start a fresh EvE session (when you log on) so that that part of the cache isn't stored yet.
After minutes of logging off, logging on, and trying to screenshot this phenomenon I finally did get a good picture of it.
The result is in this link.
A dropdown box for Category and Group. Is this feature implemented, but not ready for deployment? If so, I'd love to see this working. Its the second best option after having a tier system like the corp hangar in your own hangar.
Does anyone else know anything about this?

not knowing about the subject id say it¦s a planned or aborted feature to filter your view of item¦s.
that sort of feature might also be really useless for most people. i have also seen this before and i was not alarmed. |

Are those boxes fully available on other windows, by any chance?
Not sure how EVE's window system works, but perhaps it's bringing up the window before it receives the instructions to hide those dropdowns, since they aren't meant for that specific window... 
Just an idea.

Omg, that is a weird bug, it looks like your hangar is full of corpses :D Of course, that couldn't be true, because you'd have given them all to me, wouldn't you ^_^ :D
When all seems lost and the future looks bleak... go shoot some corpses. |

Revelations 1.4.
I spotted it on the test server much the same way you did. Its pretty cool if you have a busy hanger.

That's a new feature of 1.4. Open a can, hanager, hold, whatever. Look on the upper left of the window, where it says "view". Click the third or second icon. (mouse over will show a label "details" or "list") Now those drop downs are visible.

yes I've noticed it a few times
Kind of like the Triforce in Zelda, only not quite as potent.

View your items/ships/whatever and list mode and they become enabled. It was in the patch notes.
