If you are running missions is it easy for people to scan you out? Also how long would it take them on average if they can?

from what I heard its hard, but time is random I thinkt hey could scan all day and never get you but they could also get you on first scan.

It depends: A) ship types, (the rig rad / sensor str of target ship determine how hard it is to scan... IE: good luck finding recons...) B) drones, if they have drones, they are super easy to find... C) if target have ECCM fitted, ECCM affects A)by boosting sensor str. D) placement of probes, if you just randomely dumping them, then chances are, you dont find them. E) the ship you use.... use a god-damn covet ops for this...dont whine if it takes long in other ships =P... F) your skills, astrometrics pinpointing, etc... they determine how close you can get... G) your REAL skills, it helps to have an idea where the guy is.
and some other factors I cant remember atm,
but yeah, missions runners arent hard to find if you do some practice and get the hang out of scanning...
but key thing is: use a covet opts and scan ALOT

It is quite easy to probe mission and complex runners if you manage to get two snoops within 5 AU of your target. Also, the range between the probe and the target also affects the scan(closer is better). Last time I probed down two complex runners, I used two snoops and managed to get the Raven, Nighthawk and 3 out of 5 drones on the same scan(tho I think I was very lucky). However it can be pretty hard to scan down mission runners if they are far away from celestials and unalligned so you can't get multiple probes inside range.

A noob followup question if I can: How can mission runners protect against getting probed out? Not using drones is obvious from the above info, moving away from warp in obviously, keeping aligned, but what else? I have seen references to using scanner, but not sure I understand how to do that.
