i was just wondering whether t2 ac ammo is really that good. It seems like barrage would be the primary ammo to use, but it dosent seem that good to me. You lose tracking speed, and get 1/2 falloff all for about the damage of emp. Plus it costs ridiculous amounts of isk. Is there something im missing here?

Almost all T2 ammo in general kinda sucks. There's usually so many downsides, it's not worth it. ------------------- My opinions (ie, all of my posting here) are not my corporations. Nor should it be taken as such. |

Emp gets same damage as barrage but barrage is kin and exp. Barrage however is good because of fall off bonus. hail will get you max dps but the -cap recharge thing sucks. Barrage however can doubble your optimal, letting vagabonds hit with 220mmII with barrage at 14km and only have optimal range of 1km. Your signature is too large. You've got to take into account other's abilities. In PvP I use T2 ac's on my Hurricane. Currently, if I don't use Barrage M, I have to orbit within web range to get a decent amount of DPS. If I throw Barrage M onto it, I can orbit just outside of web range, hence causing issues for ships that require me to be close. On ships when web range doesn't matter, for example if I land on a railgun ship, then I would not worry about it, but typically I carry EMP M, Barrage M, and Phased Plasma M. (The Barrage is simply for the needed falloff).

Some T2 ammos are good in certain situations. Conflagration is a good example.
Others, like Gleam or Javelin, are nearly worthless.
It's all a matter of what situation. Most of the time you can make do with T1. ----------------

on mini ships i never use anything but barrage.
On gallente ships i never use anything but null......

You are missing something. Barrage lets you fight outside of web range while still being in a respectable ammount of falloff. Thus, you can dictate range and still hit something. The reason why it costs is because you'll need it 90% of the time, unless you have such a good tank you don't give a toss about taking a heap of dmg inside web range. If your flying minmatar this is very rare, which is why barrage is so popular.
Don't forget hail. If you target isn't moving (webbed) and you can get close and take the punishment load up hail. You'll be suprised.
I always keep a hold of barrage, emp, hail, phased plasma and fusion if I can. Most of the time barrage is loaded though.
