Since CCP is now looking at doing some mission revamp I wanted to get my 2 cents in. I think it would make sense and be cool if missions that agents gave out actually tied into the agent type. Such as production agents giving missions where you have to build stuff. Mining agents giving mining missions, etc. Rather than the bulk of the missions being go forth and kill something or move cargo from pt A to pt B. I would add variety and spice to missions as well as make more sense.

signed miners-you can: switch, rob, wardec, nerf, scam them, buy below market, pirate them on their way to sell. mining < trading, ratting, manufacturing from market bought minerals, they still wont go away |

I believe they talk about this in a recent dev-blog where they reveal level 5-7 missions. New types will use mini-profession skills like Salvage, Archeology, or Hacking. I'm sure something similar could be done with production, although those are generally grouped under the "Trade" category I believe. Bringing back all the missions they removed a while back would help. Back then mining agents gave mining missions, there were trade missions where the agent 'bought' things from you and cargo missions required some character skills to carry the large loads and thought to organise logistics (move items A,B,C to location X,Y,Z). There were even modules as mission rewards and faction modules as LP rewards.
It would also help to be able to do courier missions with others - as a gang or by setting courier missions for others. Not requiring the mission runner to be at the destination also allows them to plan ahead and place buy orders of goods the agent is likely to want moved.

The problem with mining is that you could just purchase the ore. ______________________________________________________ I forget which station container has my memory implants. |

Like contracting hauling missions? Or paying someone else to clear kill missions?

I'm still of the opinion (and I've posted this to the Ideas forum a long time ago) that it would be n interesting bit of immersion of agents would sometimes stumble on YOU. Example:
You're mining away in a belt somewhere when some in-space agent warps to your belt. Suddenly a mission dialog box pops up, the agent's working for your race's navy and has stumbled upon a pirate hideout and needs your help to clear it. You accept, haul your stuff to a station, jump in a combat ship, and complete the mission.
Another example would be NPC battles occurring in space (at a gate, near a belt, station, etc), between two factions. You attack one, and get a communication from the other thanking you for your assistance while the battle rages. If you clean out the faction you attacked, the other guys contact you with a reward, and your standings adjust accordingly.
Another example might be joining a faction mining operation. The agent in the mining op drops a can, you have to fill it with ore x, and he gives you a reward in the form of money and maybe some minerals. Alternately you could just engage them, risking faction standing. :)
The idea being that you could stumble upon missions of varying types, and take them on if you wish. It's not just like one or two ways of deliberately getting missions (agents in station, agents in space), now the agents can sometimes come to you.
