After updating to patch 1360 a splash screen notice pops up stating that I need to use dx9b, as my system is running dx9. Upgraded to dx9b and the splash screen is still telling me I need to load dx9b.
What's puzzling is that Gates own website refers to dx9b as dx9 after you've downloaded and start to install it.
What's the best way to confirm ive got dx9b on my system? (And how do I get Eve to see it?)

Are you using Win98 ?
I have exactly the same issue. I have installed DX9b and can confirm this in DXdiag but Eve still gives me the warning message.
I simply choose the "Yes play game" option and have not had a problem yet.
Probably a case of Eve only being able to check for dx9b on WinXP or something as daft.

Yup, I get the same problem on Windows 98 2nd Edition, DxDiag reports it as DirectX 9.0b (4.09.0000.0902).
Tried reinstalling Direct X 9.0b from the Microsoft site, still the same thing, and you cant uninstall it, so barring a complete reinstall of everything I can't think of anything else to try.
I'm assuming it is just a minor error in the checking code.

I get same splash message and running win98 2nd edition, Geforce 4 Ti4200 with latest drivers. Seems to run Eve ok although I have got an outstanding question with customer service regarding recent warp lock up although I don't know if thats related at all.

It appears to be a Win9x issue. I have WinME and have always had that splash screen even though I had Dx9.0b before I installed EVE. Stablility is also not real great for me. Seems worse since the patch and much worse the last few days.

Since u all replied to a pretty old post..u should have looked for the solution few days after that original problem... i looked it up, I think it was Taleq who posted this solution:
"In ...Eve\script\sys open autoexec.py using notepad. Go down to where you see # Startup. 2 or 3 lines below that you should see the line:
musthave = 0x00090002 # 9.0b
Change this to
musthave = 0x000902 # 9.0b
Save the file and that's it."
There...saving u the trouble of looking it up..
