Hallo all, I'm about to buy a Lachesis to support a mid/long ranged fleet in 0.0 operations. I have already fitted an Arazu that I will use in cloaky small gang operations. But our FC's are asking for Lachesis hulls.
The answer is: how to make this ship effective?
My main concern is about tanking/speed balance. With 1600 plates and MWD this puppy is not too much fast: about 1000 m/s, and it can easily reach 20000+ EHP.
With nano-fitting I can bring the guy to about 1400/1500 m/s with mwd. But it becomes a scrap of paper (9000- EHP)
Doing DPS is not my problem, I'll just put in a heavy launcher for killboard scoring and a couple of smartbomb in the highs to get rid of drones.
Any (constructive) suggestions?
PS plz, don't suggest me to use Falcons, I'm almost pure Gallente with my skills

Shield Tank it.
[Lachesis, Shield] Damage Control II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Photon Scattering Field II Invulnerability Field II Warp Disruptor II Warp Scrambler II Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Thunderbolt Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Thunderbolt Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Thunderbolt Heavy Missile Medium Energy Neutralizer II Drone Link Augmentor II
Medium Core Defence Field Extender I Medium Core Defence Field Extender I
Warrior II x5 Warrior II x3
Lots of things you can modify. -1 Extender +1 Sebo or 2 Points instead of a scram. Play with the highs anything. You should not need that many points and Damps are not usually effective enough to mar your ships tank or tackle with. There is lots of room for shield. Added bonus have one or two of your fleet ships with a utility mid or go without tackle tackle and fit a Remote to help you catch things faster. |

plate it and use damps with 1 long point. your worthless to everyone if you are sheld fitted. might as well replace you with a t1 frigate for tackle if shields is where you are going. huggins should be webbing to keep anything from getting close enough to point you. |

100km point range on a ship with 90K+ EHP is worthless. Yeah, you have no idea wtf you are talking about.
Shield Lachs are fine, fast enough to keep up with anything short of Vagas or Cynabals, tanky enough to stay on-grid in the face of some heavy DPS and ideal resists for not getting forced off by Drakes.

Especially in shield fleets, like drake/tengu/mael/nado ones. Although arazu seems to be more preferred due to ability to fly cloaked. Well, it's either more tank or cloak. You should tank it according to whatever the prevailing logistics type in your fleets is. If it's a long/mid range fleet, more than likely its going to be shield, which the Lachesis is more suitable for anyway, but if your fleet is using armor logi then you should slap a 1600mm plate on it and do the best you can to tank it.
As for shield fits, the one that alara put up is good, although if you're in a mid/long range fleet, you really don't have much use for a scram, it will just put you closer to the enemy's optimal than you want to be. If you're operating at extreme ranges damps can be effective, but with a shield fit you can't afford to fit 3 so you'll just have to find something that works for you. Whatever you do, don't compromise your tank to fit damps, they're not that important in most cases, though they can be useful. |

Thank you guys, very usefull suggestions. I asked in my ally channel and the answer was: shield tank in shield tanked fleet + two long points, no damps.
PS. I'm still wondering WHY damps exist if nobody is going to use them... and why lashesis has dampening bonuses :P |
