Been thinking a bit about this whole "titans are teh ghey cause you can't kill them blah blah" thing.
And it's correct in a way, in that the ability to inflict damage without putting the titan in harms way is fubar and contradictory to the premise in Eve of "mucho grande pew pew amigo".
The most popular idea so far seems to be in favour of making titans immobile after firing their double-Ds.
I agree with this, but with a slight twist.
Any cyno that has had a DD remotely fired through it can be used by enemy ships to jump to the titan's location.
There are a couple of notes on this:
- When a cyno is used to remotely channel a DD, even if the cyno ship is destroyed by the DD, the cyno field remains intact for the remainder of the cyno cycle.
- The titan does indeed become immobile after firing. For how long I don't know, but that can be worked out.
- Whilst we have fleets now sending in "decoy" gangs to trigger a DD before sending in the "real" fleet, we can now have titan's firing DDs to provoke a fleet into attacking it directly, where a support fleet is waiting. It's an extension of tactics and makes for more varied gameplay.
Please note that this doesn't deal with the anti-blob aspects we're trying to promote, but more to do with titans being immune to attack when manned, and the issue of destroying fleets remotely without repercussion.
Imagine it now:
Your fleet warp onto the gate, ready to jump into the system. Suddenly a cyno is activated in their midst, and the screen goes black. The blast wipes out the fleet, however the next fleet move in and via the still-active cyno field to where the titan is waiting, unable to move. Once there, they're greeted with another DD from another allied titan, but not before they're able to cyno in their capital fleet.
Some more aspects to titan warfare, meaning someone might actually be able to kill one of the damn things for real.

Maybe, anything is better than what we have apparently. Killing it in the cradle seems to be the most popular option. Assuming of couse lag/cap/g-a-y-ness doesnt stop you.

That would be interesting...it would also allow for some interesting tactics as well, just think! 1. Enemy fleet jumps in and is Doomsdayed 2. FC brings real fleet in after doomsday, points to Titan's location, screams "Charge!" 3. Real defending fleet is set up in sniping position at titan's location. hahaha, thats not a real kill, what this post is about is to figure out how to kill a titan when the pilot is actually playing the game not when he logs off with aggro timer on. or in the case of D2... when spies use ridiculous tactics to give the titan aggro.
