Some corps I know exclusively play station games, others only gate camp and some just roam about and will fight anywhere. Personally I almost always try and fight on gates, station games has that annoying unpredictable element where one side will inevitably undock a few carriers that you can't kill in under a minute (if they even engage). Plus, wiping out their entire fleet is rare due to undock timers being so short. At least on a gate if they hot drop they're risking their carriers :)

We used to have a 24/7 gatecamp up in Tasti, he'd sit and watch us all day, occasionally decloaking 50km off and firing off a shot then warping to get on KMs. I don't think I ever actually saw him fight us, or his main blackberry bold. Seems pretty ineffective really.
