Edited by: Misanth on 04/04/2007 09:33:24 Edited by: Misanth on 04/04/2007 09:24:41 Heh, funny to have to ask here on the boards after 1.5y but.. I never used implants as I know you lose them when you get podded, and as the pvp aspect of EvE is important to me.. they felt useless, more or less.
Recently started using +1 implants as they are inexpensive and boost the training at least some.
Asked some corpmates that uses +4 implants and they claim they use jumpclones for this. Basicly, when they know pvp is coming up, they jump to their clone and have the implants stored there but pvp 'clean'.
I seriously don't see how this would work for me. I'm parked in 0.0, 10+ jumps from Empire, and the stations nearby won't allow me to put my jumpclones there - so the closest I can chose is in Empire. I tried to jump to Empire to 'move' my clone to 0.0 but.. it wouldn't work, it was just removed. It works between stations in Empire sure, but seems the 2 factions out here doesn't like me very much.
I don't run missions and won't get my faction standings up anytime soon, at least not 'til we get lv5-6 group-missions.
So getting implants for me will either be an expensive habit, or have to stick with the +1's?
Feels silly to see people pay sick money for implants, makes you wonder how much 1.0 lv4 missionrunners there is. Clearly noone in their right mind would grab 5x 500mil+ implants if they would pvp? I can see that a total of 50mil (couple of +3's) would be 'ok' if you have a decent mission/rat-running per day but anything else seems impossible.
Edit; Oh yah, there's not always the option to "choose" when to pvp, at least not the way I play EvE. I log in, check intel channels, grab my BC and start popping some rats. As soon as we get hostile intel I jump into the apropriate ship to move out. Occationally I go out alone in my pilgrim. There's no time jumping around, usually when intel come I have 1min to get into that ship and move system.
So implants are only for carebears? Or did I miss anything?

Edited by: O''Niell on 04/04/2007 11:28:33 you tried to jump to empire without already having a JC? The JC is differant to you contract clone. Although they removed the requirment for a corp to have an 8.0 standing with the station, 'you' still do..
but that is only for the installation of the JC... train infomorph, goto empire, get a JC... fly back to 0.0.... then Jump into the JC you just 'bought'... each lvl of infomorph gives +1 JC. You can install plants in all, some or none..
Hope that helps, and isnt info you alreayd know...

First, get 4 jumpclones. You can only install them in stations that like you, but you can move them around from there to anywhere.
Then, when you don't expect to be logged into Eve for more than 24 hours, jumpclone to the one safe in Empire.
It seems that some people do spend silly money on PvP implants, such as full Snake sets...

How do you get up to an 8.0 standing with the station owner. I presume the owner would be someone, for example, like Republic Fleet. I've been mission running for them for ages and I still only have a standing of 5.6 with Rep Fleet (with 4 in connections skill). How much longer is it likely to take me? Does you standing increase quicker the higher the mission level you have...i.e lvl4 missions will improve you standing faster than lvl2?
I'm sure I read somewhere on here that it's almost imposible to get to a standing of 8.0 with a corp or faction.

Yeah I never got into JC's either.
You can't jump back to your "clean" clone for 24 hours, so you're basically stuck in empire with +4's with war targets flying around.
Personally I don't bother using JC's anymore. I use +1's if I find them selling for cheap.
I either buy what I need in 0.0 or I make a run to empire and bring back enough to sell for profit.
Most corps use cyno carriers now to get everything they need from empire. So there's really no need to ever go back.

If it's a player run station, you ask them for standings This is the easiest way. Or you join a corp that has an 8 corp standing for a corp you have no personal standings to. Or you grind for a while. I have 9+ standings with Federal Intelligence, but only 5+ with the Federation.

Exactly my thought. I currently (and have had for 1y+) have infomorph psychology lv2, so 2 jump clones available.. but I never use them for the reason you posted. I'm always in 0.0 and no reason to go there as everything gets jumped down in carrier. Using +1 implants as they are inexpensive.
Tried to figure out if there was some way to make +3 or higher implants useful to me, but sadly it seems: no, they're not worth it when you pvp.
Thanks alot for replies.
