Edited by: HongHi Choi on 05/04/2007 12:24:12 Edited by: HongHi Choi on 05/04/2007 12:23:34 Probably been mentioned before, but why not mention it again. This should be a must. Loot is half of the reward for mission runners, and all of the reward (not counting bounties) for PvPers. But what did the ship drop? Well only the one that picked it up knows for sure... or the one with a cargo scanner But seriously, should there be a system in which we can all know what droped or has been picked up? Im not suggesting a looting system that will let the computer decide who gets what, but just a little help would be appreciated. These are some of the ideas i had in mind: 1. Let us peak at the container stuff from afar. This would allow us to open the container and see what's inside from any distance (or limited distance, but prety long), but not pick it up. 2. Make a channel or something similar just for loot drops in a gang. Every time something is picked up in a gang it would be displayed in this chat window.
Also it would be great if youd add a number randomiser by typing perhaps "/randomise" in chat. Im sure lot of ppl would find this useful for all sorts of stuff, and of course to help divide the loot if players cant come to an agreement.
Edit: wanted to add that i read about your plans for the future, and i must say im more than pleased. We will finaly be able to share missions and this will encourage grouping greatly. But have in mind regarding the above written that some pieces of equipment are worth like maybe hundreds of mission rewards.

Someone nic your faction module without you knowing who did it? *LOL* Yeah, I've had this happen (and done it).
I'd also like to see an implementation that prevents bystanders from opening the wreck as long as anyone involved on the kill, or in the gang/corp of the vanquished, are on that grid. If they leave it's fair game... though criminal flags still apply, regardless.

By the sound of it, i would say that you dont like the "reality" part of the suggestion. I agree that it's not as realistic as "free looting", but there are other more important aspects of the game to consider.
I missed to mention that this addition to the game would (i think) greatly encourage cooperation with strangers, which is at a terrible state right now.

I can understand a lot of ppl are interested in such a feature, especially the locking of wrecks or loot mentioned above. I can't really agree. One of the things that makes eve truly great imo is the way in which the game depends on players to uphold a level of reality. If you ask me its up to the people involved to deal with thieves or uninvited looters. There are ofcourse moments at which the game mechanics interfere with this but imo locking loot does not improve the situation as it eliminates what is to me a very entertaining aspect to the game. Information about mission loot in gang chat however seems like a good idea, especially when working with people you only marginally trust. Just as long as its not tied to player ship destruction.

I agree with that 100%, the only thing we need is the ability to deal with them without getting concorded.
Like you said though, loot showing in gang chat would be interesting, but I guess it doesn't really fit in with Eve's general feel.

Edited by: Drakus on 11/04/2007 06:35:47 what CCP need to do is make so that in PVP wrecks are more like PVE ones.
When you kill a rat it doesn't show up as a part of their corp, but as something from you. Should be the same when you destroy a player owned ship. Make it so that if anyone trys to take from it they are taking from the guy that blew up the ship, not the one who had his ship blown up. Reason for that is because he has no ship, so not like he can retaliate. Now this would not prevent someone from getting to the wreck, aliging, stealing, then warping out, but would atleast give ya a shot at stopping the theives.
So in short, player wrecks should always show "ownership" to the person who got the final blow.

I don't agree, this would mean that the owner of the ship blown up has no rights to the remains of it. Now usually yes it does get looted by the agressor, but if the situation is more complicated with more ships involved and for instance agressors being driven out before they can loot I don't think its fair that the previous owner of what's left of a ship has no access to their own loot. I find it very illogical that the agressor who is already pvp flagged gets the rights to someone's remains.

I wouldnt be against loot messages showing up in gangchat, but I dont want some hard coded restricted loot flaggin system because that would probbaly start Eve down the road of crappy games like wow and ao. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

well what i ment is that i would like the system to stay how it is, just make it so that the wreck belongs to the person who got final blow, although the BEST solution would be for it to belong to the corp who was blown up AND the corp that blew it up. Dual ownership like what someone has in their Sig.
That way if i kill you, but get chased off by your reinforcements, your friends can get your stuff back and kill anyone that trys to steal it from ya. But if I kill you and you have no backup, I can get your loot and kill anyone that tries to steal from me.
Now, the reason that I like this idea the best is because of what happened to my alliance ages and ages ago. We had an angle fleet attacking us. I can't really remember WHY, but as we were killing them, people would come in and steal all the Dominination loot that was being left behind. So having dual ownership would be the best possible solution.

Agreed, although i don't see that happening in the system as it looks now. In the way things are now i'd oppose switching to the agressor getting ownership in favour of the original owner. ---
