This rookie mission made my confused to say the least. It is about flying out to a repair station and talk to a pirate, who according to the mission would then guide you. I found no way of talking to him, and furthermore, he did not say anything at all. I waited a while before finally deciding to kill him. He never spoke a word, nor fired a single shot. The good part though was that the kill was enough to complete the mission. Returning to the mission giver I finally found out, what the pirat was to express: Something along the lines of trying to persuade me to join his dark side.
Well my oppinion is that something is to be done to rectify the mission.

You have learned a valuable lesson about running missions.....When in doubt, just kill everything
Shoot first, shoot some more, shoot again, shoot a few more times, shoot just to be sure, shoot whatever's left in the gun, shoot shoot shoot. Then, instead of asking questions, reload, reat, then loot and salvage.
Its a winning strategy that has yet to fail me. ☼☼☼ Confidence keeps you alive...cockiness will get you podded ☼☼☼

Edited by: Zrakor on 06/04/2007 05:17:58 When you warp to the dungeon, you get a message text in the chat channel which is from the pirate. It is rather long, so you shouldn't easily miss it.
If you did not receive such a message text, that could be because you warped into the dungeon at the exact same time as another player, that has been known to cause issues like that.

Edited by: Hiro Takagawa on 07/04/2007 08:35:24 He speaks in the zone chat window. I had my window on the newbie channel, then when I switched to the zone channel just for kicks I saw the message. It was basically an introduction where he brags then tells you to try to kill him as a test. If you pass then they will contact you again later.
I basically sat orbiting the guy for about 30 minutes, bugging people on the newbie channel before checking out the other zone channel.

Running this myself I was a bit confused when the expected response from the NPC caused my local channel to white out. What they are actually saying is:
Quote: [ 2007.09.30 12:39:02 ] Message > Aleko Jakena: It's good to see you, privateer. I have a message from Steon, which he asked be delivered to you. You have gone through a pretty hazardous ordeal, having to fight against our new recruits and brave one of our traps. We certainly give you credit for getting through it all in one piece. You have guts, and that's exactly the type of pilot we're looking for.Yes you guessed it, we're here in the heart of the Minmatar Republic but we always keep an eye out for possible additions to our fleet. You Republic pilots are just so much better trained than most of the scum we have back home ...So I give you this proposition. Visit our agents to join our cause, and earn wealth beyond your wildest dreams. The stuck-up corporations here in Republic space have nothing to offer you that we can't double, or even triple. They hoard their ISK like rats and the poor sods they hire to do their dirty work only get the scraps dropped through dozens of layers of bureaucracy. You're worth more than that. Join us to be rid of the greed and backstabbing of capitalism, to find a purpose to your life and a goal to achieve alongside the rest of our mighty host. You have many days to consider our proposal, but first you must complete another test. When you are ready attack my ship. And if you leave this place with your life then we will know you are ready for what is ahead.
I found this message by going into the \EVE\Logs\Chatlogs folder under My Documents (I am running XP), sorting the files by date and checking the last created local chatlog. if you pop the rat ship you are told the mission is completed and get the following message from the NPC. This message was visible to me.
Quote: [ 2007.09.30 12:59:29 ] Message > Aleko Jakena: Nicely done. Perhaps we will meet some other day. For now I will be making my way back to base in my capsule.
