Prices seem to have dropped heavily since the last expansion.
Any thoughts? |

Hum, maybe speculation with alpha accounts and their access to the venture but doesn't seem to be this for me.
Or better : Null sec not needing high sec ore anymore with their Rorqual vacuuming ore like there's no tomorrow.

It's that last bit, along with increased yields overall from boosting ships actually mining, etc.

We may also be seeing Alphas logging in and liquidating assets, including mineral stock piles. |

In any case, I would like the person who was predicting 600m Gilas ()to show himself and explain what went wrong.

Where was this predicted and in what context? Makes no sense given where they come from if he was thinking in terms of mineral prices. |

I know. It was in the whiny-crybaby Rorqual Genocide thread that was all about how nobody will ever put a Rorqual in a belt for any reason. It's a pretty hilarious read.

There are more rorqs than ventures in the belt nowadays. Only today 9 fell prey to the Darwin's army. |

I actually remember seeing that 'GIla to hit 600m mark' post. I can't be bothered to dig it up but I think it was in one of those threads about proposed Rorqual changes, before it became clear that drone mining with Rorqs could be a thing. IIRC, the logic was that no ship was going to get boost (because nobody will want to be on grid to give mining boosts' and nobody will ever fly Rorqs, so there will be shortage of minerals and Gilas will cost 600m. ha. ha....

Actually if you take a close look at the latest Monthly economic report you will see that mining in general has decreased by about 30-50% in most null sec regions. I was interested in seeing whether that prediction had any legitimacy. While the actual prediction of 600m Gila was indeed a hyperbole the fact remains that fewer minerals are being gathered overall.
Several economic streamers made predictions of crashing prices in the mineral market and while we did see a few days of mineral decreases in prices that has corrected itself after the last three weeks of reality.
High sec minerals have come down significantly most likely due to the vastly increased number number of venture miners and or returning players liquidating stock. However the nul sec minerals (Zydrine, Megacyte) has increased in price due to the decrease in harvesting of those ores.
Many people are beginning to place Porpoise and Orca on grid, but there are nowhere near the number of Rorquals being placed on grid with miners as was thought to happen. Of course I am speaking from my perspective of looking at the reported economic reports and making a judgement from those numbers.
I have seen the fleets of Rorquals in deep Sov Nul but I believe those to be outliers. In general there is a lower use of the Rorqual than was thought. |

The last report misses the amount of mining with drones, which got a massive boost. Hence the observed decline in turret mining is not reflecting the reality.

It was literally written on one of the charts in the economic report that drone logging was broken for a portion of the period. Looks like about 25% of the period between the patch and the end of the month.

It's also worth noting the units used in the economic report: It's ISK value. Not m3, but ISK value.
Consequently, it's sensitive to price changes as well as the amount of ore actually mined.

The system index is based on actual amount mined (or at least I hope so), so what you mine with drones should be recoded somewhere, or some system will suffer a index loss.
My corp currently isn't using a rorqual (at least when I am logged) but, from what a friend of mine was was saying, some rorqual pilot is "lamenting" that with his mineral hold and compression he can't keep pace withhow much he and a couople of friends can mine in a belt. He absolutely need a dedicated hauler.

Highsec Ores and mins are falling through the floor but nullsec Ores/mins are rising.
Dumping and less reliance on highsec for Ore may be the answer |

CCP Fozzie wrote:We have decided that we need to make a tweak in our December release next Tuesday to adjust the balance of mining Rorquals and keep the mining economy in a healthy place. We are planning two connected changes in this release: - Reducing the mining yield of 'Excavator' Mining Drones by 32%
- Increasing the drop rates of the Elite Drone AI and Drone Coronary Unit rogue drone components
So probably we will see another change in prices in the near future. Elite drones AI has already dropped to 1/3 of the previous price.
