every once in awhile, i like to make a fresh alt. i train him for 13hrs and im good to go for high sec pirating with warpscram, web, the works.
i then go after high sec miners and ratters. mind you, i never go for fresh nubs, only +3-4 month olds as i¦m looking for a good close fight. i steal their loot/ore and hope they shoot at me, which they usually do. i mean, wouldnt you shoot at a few days old char thats stealing from you in a t1 frig?
anyways, i usually pwn them. i try to ransom them always or kill them if they¦re hard a**ed about it. then i always give them their money back or refund their ship unless they smack (which unfortunatelly they seldom do. i love good smack, especially hate mails:)
before you flame me for being soft in giving them their money back know that i¦ve got a few mains doing alliance stuff so i dont need my prey¦s lousy few mills, in some cases only a few hundred thousands:) im in it just for the thrill.
anyway, i just came accross this one guy who told me i was lame (maybe it was irony, i dunno). then an another that said it was alt "recycling" and therefor a ban-able act, since i kill these alts off when i¦ve had my fill of solo pirating.
so, is an "experienced" player flying a few days old alt in a frig against a 3-4 month old player in a destroyer/cruiser/retriever lame? i mean all these fights are pretty close and most of the time all involved have fun. and, more importantly, is this against the EULA?

If you keep doing it to the same person they could petition you for griefing/harrassment.
If you didn't say this was an alt, then i'd have told you that you weren't necessarily a bad person, more of a lamer who was missing the point of Eve.
But then i'm a bear really.

Why recycle the alt? Just leave him while you play on your main, then next time you don't need to make a new one and train him. I suppose the age thing is a bit of incentive but really, you can probably get away with it most of the time, not everyone checks the age of who they shoot...
That solves your recycling problem too.
And while you're not a bad person for doing what you do, you clearly aren't too dedicated to piracy, and just want the thrill every once in a while. Seeing as there's no other game that can provide such a thrill, I guess it's your only choice. So yeah, you're not bad, just silly. If you want to be a pirate, fight against real competition, in low sec or something. High-sec miners are generally not good enough at combat to stand up to anything more than a 15k rat... -----

o.0 I thought 'alt recycling' was banable for things such as this but I suppose thats the grapevine for ya , anyone ever see a post by a DEV saying it is or it isn't ? I think they should step in and clear up misconceptions like this every now and then

Edited by: Gargan Sul on 06/04/2007 22:53:38 yes, i do realise im a bit of a silly lamer, i really do. and yes the age thing is the reason i kill my alts, but the reason is that i want people to know how badly skilled the alt is. >900k sp. i mean i must get some credit for relying on exp instead of high sp, right?
i know the high sec miners dont know a rats a** about fighting. but im flyin a low sp t1 frig for christs sakes. anyone with half a brain should take me down.
plus i get plenty of real fights with my alliance in 0.0 its just that sometimes i get bogged down with all the poli-ticking and those huge fleet ops and i just wanna run free, causing havock (without lag).
as for the recycling. i dont do it very often. just when i get tired of the above. i miss my early days
edit: a few words missing

Recycling characters isn't bad. Recycling characters specifically to get around game mechanics (sec loss) is bad. What he's doing really has no impact on his sec loss (ore theft) so IMO there isn't an issue at all.
Alts allow you to test out new races and new ideas. There shouldn't be any penalty for that.
Because I said so...

But only a bit. It's still funny as hell.

Never said anything on those lines. Just letting you know that you'll still get plenty of victims without recycling alts.

Not really...frigs are underrated. And what is it that you're fighting? Mining barges are no challenge, a cruiser fit for mining can only get you if he has drones methinks...but then again he could be using mining drones.
If he's fit to shoot anything it's a rat, even then sometimes he's not ready.
And anyone who sits there jet mining in high sec expecting to be left alone doesn't have half a brain in the first place...

as almost always, jex is pretty much on the money i, more than not, always go for the same fing ship with the same fing setup.
thing is, i dont know why, i usually get the intellingent miners. like i said, i do this regulary and the older i am, the fewer ratters/miners i get to shoot back at me (there is always that hesitation (as they check my histroy?) before they attack/leave, and kudos(hint) to them imo). even though i never train these alts above 900sp (and i very rarely get any gd smack, i mean please show a griefer some compassion plz)
and i say griefer in jest rly. i never target anyone in particular and i always give them their crapy s**t back. wtf is it to me anyway. this other day, a miner (4mnths) gave me all his money (435.000isk) as ransom for his retriever (he almost had me though, had to turn of my scrambler just to stay alive. lucky he didnt notice:)
sometimes i get 5 or 6 frigs fitted and waiting and go to low sec on suicide runs with the only principle to shoot at the first thing i see. so far, 95% to 99% loss rate (i suck). where are these nubs and ebayers in bs¦s that every one is talking about ffs!?
and jex, i dont give a s**t about u too

Even though I am your sworn enemy (a young high-sec miner with only half a brain) I can't help but like you. You're not a bad person. :D

The fact that you only go for people who should have some idea of what they're doing (3-4 month old cahracters) would lead me to think it's not that bad to be honest. It's not as if you are one of the people sitting outside of a noob accademy in a bs dropping containers with "Free Stuff" in it. I've seen that happen a few times, that I would consider bad. The fact that you also refund them makes you a lot less ebil than most people

Are you a bad person? Yes, horrible, you should sever your privates with dull rusty scisors, then staple them to your chin. Jk. Naw, your alright, why? Because it's all about the intent not the action. Your INTENT seems to be not only pew pew pew, but pvp with a chance of gettin popped. In other words, it appears you just like a good fight. /respect.

No this makes him more ebil than anyone else I know.
But that's a good thing...
But wait, he's being ebil by not following the typical pirate ways...
But that's still ebil...but it's...
Alright I'm gonna have to pod you, OP. For causing me to think.
