Yes it has flaws, yes it has problems, but hell, for me, it's still the best damn game ever made.

I keep telling myself "no more Eve, too much of a time sink" and then a few short months later I keep coming back (though always with a new toon, I love working with newer players).
There are always issues, but I think the forum users are a sample of the more radicalized members of the community-- the gripe threads here certainly don't seem to reflect the vast majority of the experiences people have with Eve.
This game is the only one I play. I wrote a research grant as an undergrad so I could afford a laptop for school that could run the client. I purchased a new desktop so I could run both accounts at the same time, even with the memory leak (not sure if the last patches fixed that or not, it doesn't bother me on this computer).
After 4 years on the market, Eve still rocks anything else I see out there. It is a niche game still, but it has a LOT of bells and whistles.

Edited by: Darwin Duck on 07/04/2007 01:05:08 Yes, EVE is superior to all other carebear MMO's out there. In EVE you can affect the game world, in other MMO's you can't
I love sandboxes, I love EVE! There is only one MMORPG, it's called EVE online!

Edited by: Tiodus on 07/04/2007 03:30:23 Interesting to note that when I was at work today I for the first time seriously considered to leave eve, and when I opened the forums page (a bit worried if it'll take my mood down once more) after coming home, I find three threads of pure love for the game and inspiration for me.
And I don't believe in coincidences.

Have to agree with this thread. I have been playing EVE for just over a year and I have to say I love it. Ok being away for 3 months now (1 month down 2 to go) on deployment I actually miss it. Yes like everything games do have flaws but get them credit they are still keeping the game going. Can't wait to get back into it once back in June. Thanks CCP.

It certainly has its drawbacks, issues, and troubles, but overall, EVE's a good game. It's just about the only online game I will ever pay a monthly fee to play. Nothing else seems worth it.

I played so much games since the first cabinets and C64 but I can't remember that I played a single game which beats EVE. And we all have to understand that this is still the first generation of this kind of MMORPG. What will happen in 10-20 years?

Have to agree with Ele Presidente above. I've been into gaming since I was a kid playing with my Coleco-Vision (or Pong to others) on a black & white TV....and thinking it was the height of technology! lol Next thing I knew there was Pac-Man, Q-Bert, Gauntlet!! then my first Nintendo (I can still hum the Super Mario music). But I have NEVER experienced such a brilliant game like EVE. Like the others have said...sometimes it p**ses you right off! But it will be a hell of a long time before it's topped. Izz

Eve is the best in its genre - however i do still play other things beside it - like shooters, and RTS, and the occasional game of trashtalk

Hit the nail right on the head, I used to stay up way late playing that, I wouldnt even want to look at it now as my fond memories would be destroyed
As soon as I heard Eve was being launched I couldnt wait to get my hands on it
