Edited by: Chaimera on 07/04/2007 04:02:47 Hi, welcome to EVE.
You can purchase a NYX BPO directly from the market. It currently sells for 20.000.000.000,00 ISK.

i think i didnt make my question clear, sry about that.
i checked the market before, but they are too expensive for me. im thinking if it is possible for me to get one from an agent?

no, Nyxes are so expensive only a few players in the game can acheive one. Usually it takes an alliance, ranging from several hundred people to thousands, to acheive one. _______________________________________________

He's right, team up! Actually, I started saving for a Nyx from day one! I'm stockpiling minerals from refined loot, and have several bpc components. Perhaps by the time I am ready to actually build it, someone will be making bpcs available.

Blueprints only come from the market or from other players who bought it from the market.
The only exceptions are certain faction ship BPCs, which rats from the respective factions drop or agents from the respective faction reward. T2 BPOs also only come from agents via a lottery, but thats being removed.
As a nyx is just a normal Tech 1 ship, it is found on the market.

Aye, Nyxes are quite expensive. Note that the ship itself costs about as much in minerals as the BPO, also like all capital ships its basically useless without a goodly support fleet (of other players). More specifically it cant jump between systems without a buddy to deploy a cynosural field at the destination and itll fall to a small wolfpack of battleships if its not defended by a few of its own.
If youre new and lust for drone hordes, Id set yer sights on the dominix, its pretty powerful, and it wont set you back billions of isk or require a private army to operate. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

Edited by: Cybarite on 07/04/2007 04:40:49 my god, and I thought I was a newb, seriously you don't just get a Nyx BPO, you don't get one from an agent, the only way to get one is to buy one.
I'm trying to figure out if you honestly don't know this, or if you're just baiting us.

The nyx is a mothership, a gallente capital ship used to haul templars, which are amarr fighter drones used by carriers.

I know that's technically correct, DS... but referring to it as hauling somehow cheapens the sweetness that is the Nyx.

Couldn't a few T2 bpo holders get together and buy one of these (or the minerals and bpo at least) without much issue? The real hassles being moving it, using it, building it, accept it...
I have no idea what kind of money the serious traders get, but I'm assuming each is worth a coupla billion in isk alone.
Carriers are ok as personal ships though right? As in, personal 0.0 haulers? This is what I get for focusing my training on covert ops and exhumers. Long way from big ships.

Well it is a very good hauler
Take the 2.5m ship maint array, that fits 9 Iteron Mark V's. Each of those Iteron Mark V's can take 12 Giant secure cans (assuming T2 expanders + T1 rigs), so thats 46800m3 + 2424m3 (what was left) or 49224m3 per hauler.
If you then take 9 of those, you get to 443016m3 in your ship maint. array alone. Then add to this fact that it has 50k m3 corp.hanger array space, thats 16 additional giant secure cans, or 62400m3 + 2000m3.
Gets the total to 507416m3 of stuff that can be hauled by a Nyx.
This does not include filling the lows of the Nyx with cargo expander t2's + t2 / t1 cargo rigs. Which could add up to 58500m3 in cans + some left over.
If you'd go really mental you could add a bit of m3 to this lot by going for t2 / t1 cargo rigs (instead of just t1) on the iteron's.
Now tell me again that it should be used as a hauler
Its expensive and can be used for the better things in Eve, but its a damned good hauler and you can bet your sweet .... on it that some of the MS pilots have hauled with it

No offence, but drop the thought. At least wait until you've got 50 billion, a big corp/alliance, and a year or two of experience.
Motherships are the second largest class in the game, only rivaled by Titans. There are probably currently ten or so(?) motherships in all of EVE.

The most difficult thing about a Nyx isnt getting the money together to buy the BPO and Minerals - its building the thing.
Capital Shipyards are basically the most brightly burning targets in EVE for dreadnaught fleets.

Gotta be double, if not triple that number - as a low estimate. I'd say there's that many TITANS. -----

How so? It would seem carriers fill the need of pilots lusting for capital ships and the doomsday device makes the titan a desirable next step, what does the mothership have that makes it that much more interesting than a number of carriers for spares or saving up for the titan?

Why not make the Iterons hold a little over 55K each? that'll put you just above 600.000 cargo space :P
T2 expanders + T2 rigs = 55.000 cargo on a Iteron V.

I thought unpiloted ships only had their base cargo space availeble (So no skills or modules are counted). And that if that cargo hold was exceeded you could not move the ship. Or was it only altered for the carriers and not for the motherships?

Yes, an unpiloted ship only shows its base cargo space, regardless of what's in the bay. The trick is to have a pilot (e.g. able to fly Iteron V) load the ship with - for example - 30K m3 of small antimatter and then trade the vessel to the carrier pilot who can load it into his/her ship bay. _________________________________________

That is highly untrue mate.
BOB have to have like 7-8 alone, MC probably has 4-5, AAA has one or two, D2 have a few, Establishment has 1, SMASH has 1 I think... guy who owned it left smash not sure what he did with it. Plus various other people have 1 or 2.

I'm not sure how much you know about motherships, whether you've fought against or with one, but they are as close as you come these days to a solo-own-mobile. A "small wolfpack" of battleships would get destroyedvery easily.
Something like an Aeon can tank a stupid amount of damage whilst taking out battleships and holding them down with 30km faction webbers and scramblers etc, whilst annihilating support by using officer and faction smartbombs...

if you use jump portal generator u get close to 100 million trit compressed into 2000 m¦ :) but using tracor beams works pretty nicely too. then u can haul over 1 billion trit in 1 run :D
