Edited by: Marketman on 07/04/2007 09:07:18 I was told last night that another pirate corp has, or is about to take possesion of a Mothership from a cap building corp,
The guy who told me is the CEO of the corp building the ship, and while he didnt name the pirate corp involved, he did say he suspected it would get well used in Annamake.
I have my own ideas who it maybe, but does any corps on here want to own up to copying The Establishment

It is decidedly hardest to refute a comment that doesn't make sense...so I might have some trouble here.
What I said wasn't some smack-talking, band-wagoning, upset-that-snowy-has-a-MS thing. What I'm saying is I consider it highly unlikely that of 200,000 players, only one both flies a MS and is in a pirate corp. Especially since one of my friends flies a carrier (not sure about a MS yet) and is in a pirate corp...so in a short time I can tell you there will be two
I'm actually kind of excited to see Miz and his weapon...next time I come around Rancer I'll fly something cheap and expendable. And I don't have implants so podding me would be a whatever thing, though it'd be nice if you didn't kill your tourists.

Not that piracy is the exclusive domain of 0.1 > 0.4, but we do our fair share of killing in lowsec too.
For referance out of the 571 battleship killed that Hera has claimed, 254 have been in low sec (10 of 15 Faction BS kills) as has 7 of 11 frieghters as well as 3 of her carrier kills.
Amusingly Hera in her one year of service has actualy outkilled your entier corporation since 2004 on all quality targets (Capitals, Battleships and Command Ships) and while checking these stats I've noticed that your target selection and method of engement does not even qualify you as real pirates but more accuratly thugs. (Not a bad thing if thats what your aiming for)

I'm guessing you are speaking of Ign0raMus. Bragging that this MS pilot has killed alot is hardly worth getting excited about.

Gratz, you win the 'who can kill the most worthy targets in a moship contest'. All targets are 'worthy' to me, as in, I see something flying I shoot it then it explodes.
The establishment afaik are not a pirate corp... whats your sec status out of interest ?, I've never seen a pirate with -3.4 sec staus before. I'm not saying that makes you any less a player... it does just suggest you are not all you claim to be.

Thats all very well, but thats not piracy. Piracy is the boarding, capture or destruction of a vessel for profit. To put this into real life terms to fit a current street crime, what we and most pirates do is likened to being muggers. What you do goes into the same catagory as murderers, pedophiles and rapists.
Not to say that in eve, the indescriminate killing and abuse of other players, no matter how small is a bad thing, but that again isnt piracy. Thats thuggery.

I'd say by the true definition of a pirate, we are probably more so than yourselves. Sec status isnt a measure of pirating skill, but rather a measure of you being a indescriminate killer. Again nothing wrong with that, but that isnt piracy. (Besides, sec ratings can be repaired and often have to be for us when we go out on contracts.)

If it is the latter, then we are no different from you, except we roam all over the map in low-sec and 0.0. Our motivation is the same, blow people up for ISK, we stay politically neutral, get funny hate mails, some cool fights now and then. But at the end of the day, much mindless gankage...
We are just as piratical as you are. The only difference is peoples opinion on which requires more skill
And if sec status is really your judge of a Pirate, I'm at -9.4 atm, several other of our more prominent PvP'ers are also at -10 or getting close. So either way, we can claim to be Pirates and this is who we see ourselves

You're falling into the age old trap of magically creating words and inserting them into other people's mouth.
He is saying he hasn't seen any Pirates with -3.4 sec stat before, and neither have I.
We've been through the sec stat issue before, its not the be all and tell all if you're a Pirate or not, but it damn sure lends a heavy hint, now doesn't it?

Snowy is a high-sec mission running corp aren't they? No, no, really. I'd say you are both pirates and both pretty effective at that. Though with all this forum smack do you guys ever actually activly go out to hunt each other down. It seems you would both back yourselfs in a fight and I'm sure Tiller drops some decent loot.

Templer, just look at the content of his post. The way he writes...not only does he whip out his e-peen, he also tries to create an image of himself as one of those "awesome bad guys" you see in movies...

Due to his sentence structure, or lack of, i guess you are about right, 12 could be spot on. And yes, the way he's writing "THIS AIN'T THE PIRATE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR, IM JUST L33T, MOVE ALONG", proves it all

the MS in question is not just built or nearly built, its in existance for over half a year, it belong to TDG first then we sold it to Miz, now when Miz joined Snowy its part of their fleet. So it has been around for a while.

I find this thread really funny, EST have been raping lowsec for a long long time with that Nyx. Anyone here ever looked at their killboard? I for one cannot see the difference between killing in lowsec or 0.0 for profit and not for any political gain. A mothership is only really vunerable in 0.0 and it takes real balls to gate camp with it in nulsec. Low sec is a little too easy for a MS imo. ----------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Aria Jenneth on 08/04/2007 09:18:58 Three things, as a non-pirate and innocent passerby:
1) I've seen The Establishment's Nyx, while it was in Otsasai. It certainly looked piratical to me, sitting on the gate; it nearly gave me a heart attack, and I considered it a very good thing I was in a Falcon at the time, with cloak.
2) When in lowsec, I tend to assume that not only anyone below 0.0 sec status, but anyone near it who's got a character history over a year long, is a pirate. That may be my paranoia talking, but it seems to work, because ...
3) The first pirate I ever got shot down by had a sec status of over 3. Why? Killing lots of 0.0 rats. Why? So that she could slip into little islands of lowsec surrounded by hisec. Why? So she could sneak up and blast noobs like me who assumed little islands like that would be avoided by all those nasty pirates.
When I lost my caracal to this woman, I was incensed-- a pirate should have the good sense to LOOK like a pirate, right? I mean, where was the pride in her work? Shouldn't I at least be able to set a bounty? In other words, I was sounding just like SNOWY. Boy, did I ever get set straight.
Not only do pirates not need to be under -5.0, they don't even need low security ratings. Or, "It's what you do, not what you get cited for doing."

No, no, I'm pretty sure EST's was the first.
I've seen it in Assah several times many many months ago.
In fact, I think I still have a couple screenshots of it sitting on the G-5EN2 gate, where it sat lazily waiting to decide if it wanted to engage a small fleet of Ravens.
Then it did, and it was hilarious.

Edit: Just thought, maybe you can't enter high sec in a moship. Hm.

i do have a quick question:
dictors work but draw aggro? I always though they just gave the "gm's disapprove of this so no pew pew for you" message.
if they do in fact go off, what's to prevent a dictor from popping the bubble, cloaking immediately(before the .3 second Concorde delay, tricky i know) and hiding out with no one able to do squat about it? Granted it's tricky and not quite permanent but...

I must not lag. Lag is the mind-killer. Lag is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my lag. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Motherships are invincible in low-sec.
the circumstances needed to kill a mom in 0.0 are basically multiple dictors to prevent a warp away and nuetralizers to prevent the cyno away.
since no dictors in low-sec, no way to prevent warp.
bumping does not work for more than a minute or two.
Mom;s in 0.0 only die if the pilot makes a mistake or lags out. Mom's in low-sec should not die at all... unless the pilot crashes with aggro. -
