Well, looks like IGN has their Reader's Vote awards going on now and it seems that Eve is missing from every category it should be in, even the "Best Game No One Played"!! Fortunately, you can email them a write in. Find all the details here. Eve should at least win hte title for best game no one played!! Cast your votes!

IGN have their noses lodged firmly in industry a$$. It's no surprise that an off-mainstream game is ignored by them. Luckily most of the gaming community knows that they are nothing but a bunch of pandering yes-men who wouldn't know a decent game if, ablaze with a glorious fire, it came streaking out of the sky and crashed down upon their keyboards.

Look closer before you judge.
Why don't you people look at the BEST PERSISTANT WORLD GAME category and vote for EVE there?

I quit reading IGN when ad space took over their entire web site, leaving only the smallest sliver of space left for actual content. And even then I think they were hard pressed to prevent pushing that content out of the page to the status bar of our web browsers. And at the end of it all, the "content" they have is laughable at best, given every game looks like it's going to be fantastic from an IGN preview, even the ones that utterly suck when released.

Edited by: Jash Illian on 26/12/2003 07:32:33 With all the ragging on IGN people feel necessary to dish out, they ignore a simple fact:
Of all the fansites sponsored by a gaming network, Eve Vault is the most regularly updated.
Dunno...if I were looking over bandwidth budgets and caught a wiff of the comments here, I'd be reaching for the Quarter of Judgement to flip. But I'm a bastige like that somedays

There's no MMORPG category which is odd.

IGN.. the cut and paste game network. Honestly, who cares? Their whole gamesite network thing has been a huge ball of festering crap for two years now.
People still read that crap? ------

EVE is there under: BEST PERSISTANT WORLD GAME category
And where is the space pokemon game commonly known as Earth and Beyawned? Exactly. Think before you bash EVE, it's the best in its league and at least it gets a mention.

Funny thing about IGN network game sites. It is all volunteer work. Always has been. They set up web boards for nearly every MMORPG game and will even give the game a site on their vault. Whether the game is a success or not.
You only get the quality out of something as the quality put in. So if only one or two guys are doing the work in addition to playing then of course it aint going to be up to some peoples standards.
IGN Vault Network is a game community. If your only go there to read and not conribute then of course your not going to find anything you want. Basically you got exactly what you put into it out of it, nothing.
The success of such a community for a game depends on number of users. Some games that have loads of Vault users it is a very valuable tool to use in finding info. Other games like Eve where the number of users is around a couple dozen it does not work as well.
In other words if you are not willing to do some of the volunteer work to make it into a good site then you really have no right to slander it. If it sucks it is because your not using it or contributing to it.

Lovem' or hatem', IGN is one of a very few US websites that gives Eve any exposure whatsover.
They also dared to give Eve an 8.0 when everyone else in the states was trashing it. --------------

Actually, when I first posted this Eve wasn't in that category, actually now that I think about it there were less categories when I first saw this. Perhaps they updated it after getting some feedback. Afterall, they do claim it to be a reader's vote. Oh well, either way it is there now so vote for it if you care to :-)
