Now that the speed nerf has been put into place, are interceptors and vagabonds once again the kings of speed demons, or are there BSes that can still outrun either? Also, what is the fastest ship you have ever encountered?

Done by bounching off something.
Using the more convential method of a speed booster of some sort I think 43km/s is the fastest I've ever heard of taking place.

Yar! Star bounceing. Comes in handy when someone is probeing for you.
Back to the topic. I'll put my money on a pimped up crusader. 3x overdrive IIs, best nanofiber. Load the rig slots with mass reduction rigs. Full HG snakes as well. Should be pretty zippy.

Edited by: Dark Shikari on 09/04/2007 16:11:28 The fastest real max speed (not bumping) is probably with a HAC or command ship using a Gist X-type 100mn MWD, a Strong X-Instinct Booster, full gang mods, navigation 5, acceleration control 5, and a crapload of overdrives and mass mods. And HG snakes ofc.

havent done much actual testing myself, but im gona go out on a limb and say that the vagabond is back to being king of the speed hill, at least as far as ships/setups that you would actually want to use in combat.

Couldnt you make ships go at over warp speed with loads of MWDs in the old days?

No way, not faster than warp. But there was a point in time when you could fit and use as many MWD's on a ship as it had grid for and they did get ships up to some prety rediculous speeds. ------------------------------- C.D's Formula for success ------------------------------- Credit Card = Game Time Card Gametime Card = ISK Therefore Credit Card = ISK.

Fastest reported speed was by some guy with too much money in a Zealot loaded with domi overdrives and a 100mn MWD.
It wasn't sustainable, but it was legit. No bouncing or lagging involved.
Of course, that's all rather different now that speed mods have been nerfed. I'm guessing for a Vaga or Interceptor. ----------------

The fastest speed, as far as I can reckon it, via the setup already mentioned, is 63767.138052m/s - 5 overdrives, 2 T2 mass reduction rigs & 2 nanofibers, the rest maxed out as normal. ------ Top speed calculation spreadsheet - updated for the recent speed nerf Army of doom headcount: 26,045 |

About the zealot: Apparently they had ships with cap transfer arrays lined up along his path to sustain the cap up to full speed :P
Of coruse not practical at all, but theres your answer.
