I've been thinking of this for some time now .
EVE is a game that may be around for some time like it almost 20 years old now and it may be here when i'm in my 60's lol i hope. But every thing comes to an end and eve may out last us all so i been thinking if someone pass's away in IRL that if notified CCP should make that persons Avatar a NPC that randomly roams NEW EDEN doing the things that the person like to do in game and flying there favorite ship in essence honoring the memory of that former player and in a sense a true capsuleer that will live on in eve online
Jean-Paul Sartre once said GÇ£People are like dice. We throw ourselves in the direction of our own choosing.GÇ¥ these words are so true in eve

Though I can see why one might find it creepy, I do see why someone would want a memorial system in the game.
The experiences that we do go through in EVE can be quite personally powerful or profound, in some cases people would want to remember their fallen friends as they fly around New Eden.
Make it a feature of the game all its own? Perhaps not, but if there were a way to nod respectfully to the people we have lost, that we have known through the game, It would just be a nice touch.
Do I have any idea on how to properly and respectfully implement it? No, But im not a game designer.
Sure we can find our own ways to mourn. But in some cases these are people who we have only made friends with in game. And those relationships can still be as important as ones found in real life.

Can's are normally seen as just space trash though no? Not exactly fitting to someones legacy is it?
As for Citadels.. Problem there is, The only real monument when it comes to citadels are Keepstars. And they arent... easy to come by unless you are quite affluent.
Again, I'm not a game dev, however something small, something token to represent that person, would be nice. Am I saying its essential to the game? God no. But as just a nice little additional thing? I dont really see the harm. |

Cans have been used for this for years. One of the great parts is they can't be scanned down and messed with. And if you just want a small token then why are keepstars the only acceptable citadel to be a monument?
