With alt characters and alt related corporations reaching epademic proportions, CCP call on the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Alts) to sanction a cull in the best interests of the greater good.
Chief Scientist - Dr Killemall - was quoted as saying "This can only produce positive results for the global community"
A CCP source was commented as saying "Pretending to be from CCP is a bannable offence - email me to find out why"
On the street, views were divided....
Ivan Altinmyname - "I think this is a terrible blow for spineless free speech"
Everyone Else - "One ban to sort them out, one ban to fix it all"
Seriously though CCP, this is getting silly, sort out the relationship beteen ingame accounts and the forums. If people want to troll and flame with impunity, make them pay for it. ONE FORUM CHAR PER ACCOUNT 4TW!!!
Carlsberg dont make Eve Pilots, but if they did, i wouldnt be one of them.

Seriously though, I wish more people would trash their alternate characters and just use their mains. If you're afraid to look like an idiot, then don't post! If you have an opinion you don't want to voice with your signature on it, it probably sucks.

I the idea of only one forum char per account is nice. It should be whichever character has the most SP on that account.

I am an anti-bob alt flaming anti-bob alts trying to make bob alts and their kinfolk seem smart, so as to confuse all the other bob alts into letting me have their SEKRITS. Which I will then post on the forums as a bob alt seeming to be disenfranchised with my anti-bob alt due to the retarded flames I had posted earlier. When I have confused everyone including myself I will then post with my main decrying the ineptitude of all alts everywhere. Which will then be endgame for me because everyone will think my main is then 1337.

I am everywhere and I am no where. The world is full of computers and I have many accounts. I am the nether hydra. Limit per IP. I get on at work or at the library. Limit it per account, then i will use the other. Do all at once and ill... uh hrm.. Please allow me to live for i serve a purpose far higher then stating facts or keeping on subjet. Do not limit me to having more then X ammount of skill points or an alliance ticker for i will join an alliance of alts. I will name it "The Orginzation of Free Alts." and use FALTS as the ticker. You can not stop me for I am the free man standing up for my rights to derail posts.

I've got problems with removing the 2 extra slots on each of my accounts... I have done no flaming (that I'm aware of) or trolling. This forum should be seperate from in game activities... If somebody flames me on this forum, I could care less. For one thing I play the game.
An idea for flaming and trolling alts: have only characters with an alliance tag to post in the "corporation discussion forums"

If I want to post as an alliance member, I do it.
But if I want to keep my alliance name out of it, because I think voicing my opinion could fall back negatively on my alliance (mates), then I sometimes chose another char. Same if I think that my alliance name would just distract from what I want to say.
Simple example: Let's imagine my alliance would have a different view on in-game politics than me like in an on-going conflict. Now I like to voice my opinion, too. Then it's surely better for everyone to keep my alliance name out of it.
Simple deal: I try to keep my alliance name out of it and in return noone tells me when to post or not to post.

 Create a new sub forum where only Alliance members can post in (since it cost a bit more to create a 1 man alliance). Alliance ticker must also be shown or post/thread gets deleted.

Seriously, learn how forums work. They all have trolls, and you don't feed them. Alts = trolls. Where there is a will, there is a way, and it doesn't matter how many restrictions you put on who can and can't post on the forums, trolls will find a way around it, they always do.
Don't reply and don't argue with them. The only reason someone makes an alt post is to see how many people he can **** off. Don't feed them and they get bored and go away.
It's simple forum etiquette.

Why dont you jsut make it so that eve clients cant be ran ontop of each other? that way the lag wud prob go and ud loose like 50% of all accounts (altho it'll make em less money obviosly)

My main is a director in an executor corp of a fairly neutral alliance.
I post with my alt whenever I want it to be clear that the views expressed are my own and nothing to do with my alliance or corporation.
For example, I defended a RL friend after his corp-theft when I felt the people he stole from were taking it too far (my own alliance is very anti piracy and anti theft). I would not feel comfortable doing that with my main, given my position.
However, I'd agree to the need for a single character per account to post on the COAD. It's a discussion board for corporations and alliances - alts have no place in that as you are either representing your alliance/corporation or you have no business posting.

And there you are wrong. Its not free speech whats happening here. Free speech is an important thing, dont get me wrong. But there is more to 'free speech' than just 'let everyone say what he wants'. There is one major drawback, something that naturally regulates 'free speech'. And thats your identity. You have every right in the world to say what you like, what YOU want. But you are also responsible for what you say, what you DO. You want to demonstrate against something you dont like? Fine, you have the right to do, but by the law you are not allowed to mask yourself, YOU need to show yourself and stand by your decision.
Hiding behind exchange-able alts is like masking yourself in real-life. I never understood why the gaming industrie allowed the use of alts in message boards. You want to say something? Fine, stand by it.
The world of flaming, aka COAD, would be soo much better if everyone had to think about their posts, about what they SAY, if they only had ONE identity to post with. So much better ...

I don't know how banning works so this my just be drivel.
Couldn't you just give forum bans to all 3 characters on the account(and all subsequent characters placed on the account) thus meaning people have to be more careful and more sparse with their smack.
Also just banning the very obvious Alts, just take a look at some of the names in this thread to see what I mean, it will be a lot of work for isd to begin with but once the main offenders are dealt with it will tone down. Even justing makign people aware of such a harsh rule would tone this whole mess down.

For those of you who actually 'looked' at my corp ticker..
I fully support "Alt" control.
Best case fool proof..
Limit forum access to Mains only (chars with significant exp diff from other chars) per account.
Limit forum access to only one 'Forum Account' Per CC paying for eve (though game time cards wouldnt work)
Limit forum access to only one 'Forum Account' per ISP.
Make it mandatory to have an Alliance logo.
ON their own each of these can be easily bypassed.
Combined.. well it would be a great challenge to get by that...
But alass.. if we have learned anything its that
