Observing the festival gifts being not just cosmetic but actually valuable and also be given to Alpha accounts, I'm wondering what's the reasoning behind? So far I was under the impression, as an Omega there is no strong reason to own a peoples amount of Alpha accounts (also recognized the recent ban of mini skill injector farming) ... but with gifts traded at 30-50M given to Alpha accounts, me starts thinking ...
... not, I'm too lazy for that kind of "grind" , but it's something IMO not to be ignored.

According to reddit speculation, that may have been the reasoning behind the gifts of the last couple of days (I don't think alphas received the 300 AUR, but could be wrong).
Apparently, there was a rush on the creation of alphas since the start of the event and CCP had to change the gifts so they could sort it out.
Don't know how true it is, but wouldn't surprise me.

Just curious here: what from gifts we have received already actually trades for 30-50M ISK? Not talking about accelerator. I'm pretty sure it will be given only once per event.
We got some skins and avatar stuff and i believe with amount of such items given they will worth less than 1M ISK?

speaking of speculation, it's been said these daily gifts are an attempt at getting players to log in. With the 24 hour timer and all. Problem with that tinfoil is you don't have to log in a character, and you can claim the gift by click and dragging over a portrait in character selection.

2x a random skin, which trade at the 30M mark, 1x the booster which trades at 50M today and the 300 AUR yesterday (not confirmed for Alphas), so far ...
If the booster is a one time thing, expect the value to skyrocket, because one will work until January 20th and you need a new one every 2 days.

So you will be a rich useless alpha clone after doing this for a couple of days? You would still have to upgrade to omega to be useful. |

No, I would be a rich Omega owning an army of Alpha accounts collecting gifts from CCP.

I only made 8, two of each alpha. With some biology trained that was enough to boost my train until they run out at end of december. (But I admit, a dark part of me wants to make a minion army and roll on a heap of skins and boosters.) |

Yes. They're worth a little under 22k sp with biology V

Hey thanks.
So if they're good for 22k SP, does that explain why they're valued at around 1/10th of an injector
My first thought was maybe I could use them to fix some off-attribute market skills, but at their price you might as well just inject outright.

They said in the festival announcement that they want to give alphas a chance to catch up a bit.
If they hand out worthless stuff a lot of players will complain. If they hand out unrestricted, valueable stuff the ingame economy will be damaged.
They found a good middle ground IMO. SKINs are just cosmetic, lore items are fun items with no real value and the cerebral accelerators have a time limit.
The wealthy (compared to alphas) players decide how valuable SKINs and cerebral accelerator are.

So go forth alphas and create 1000s of accounts! Earn a bonus if you deliver the items to my home station.
EDIT: They should add the profession gift farmer to the newbie guides. Makes you by far the most ISK/h as an alpha. |

More people feel like they can afford 50M then 600M. Because of that, the price goes up because there's more demand for the product.
The funny thing is if you think about it... the people who can least afford skill injectors are likely the ones who'd benefit most from getting one compared to the accelerator.
If you have less than 5 million sp... 1 skill injector = 22 accelerators. 5-50 million = 18 accelerators 50-80 million = 14 80+ million = 6
So... if the going rate is 1 injector = 12 accelerators.... the price is actually very beneficial to the highest sp players... the ones who are likely able to most easily afford skill injectors.

Go ahead, OP.
If you are prepared to create and cycle through 100 accounts, knock yourself out.
Tbh all players with long term ambitions in EVE should set up atleast 1 account per race (to future proof against changes to ship balance or alpha restrictions), as slow, passive, free SP incubators.

I've started two new accts. But I also reactivated twenty old ones.
So, out of the twenty two boosters, I sold enough to make a quick 350M ISK and activated the rest on the ones that are subbed. 350 million is not that much these days.
If you want to make thirty alphas to cycle through every day for the 12 days of the event in the hope of making enough to sub one of them for one month, then all the power to you. You have a lot more dedication than I do.

The booster can be used by veterans daily (or every other day, if you have high Biology skill) to up your attributes +10 until Jan 20. Total extra SP is about 650k, basically an injector. Because of the training speed reduction that alphas get, it's kinda useless to them, but they can get 30-50 million ISK if they sell it, which is a decent sum.
In any case, yeah it's somewhat unbelievable that CCP still doesn't realize what the playerbase will do with a tradeable skill-anything, or what the effect of "give a single random skin" (vs. "give everybody all the skins") is in terms of alpha accounts created.
But I do see attempts to give good gifts, too, with the 300 AUR and reduction of a lot of the NEX prices to 100-300 AUR. Honestly, the NEX skins should have been priced this way from the beginning; maybe they're finally understanding how to price their brown and gritty stuff. |

Employees had new account quotas (or was it bonuses) and to satisfy them they started creating new accounts themselves.
If new accounts were the intent with the accelerators that's kind of impressive. It's crowdsourcing the inflated activity reports. And unlike gift boxes in redeeming system, transferring items requires a login. The number of these accounts can't be that high, though so I just don't know. I'm on the fence.
