Which is faster? The astarte that doesnt have to move in close or a deimos that has a full rack of neuts and 3 damage mods (astarte also has 3 damage mods)

Assuming you can get in range and stay there, the Blasters would do superior DPS, which is generally what you want in PvE. ------------------- My opinions (ie, all of my posting here) are not my corporations. Nor should it be taken as such. |

You'd die faster in a blastership.. especially when pirates jump in.. you're already scrambled/webbed/using cap like a laser ship/tanking hard in a blastership, so if a pirate comes by.. mjam
Then again, rail astartes aren't known for their pvp prowess :)

Considering that you'd want to check the loot cans, you'd have to move a lot anyway, so you should go with a blaster Deimos.
For missions against guristas a railgun astarte is way better, as you'll probably collect the loot an salvage with anotehr ship afterward.
A rail astarte with antimatter, 3 damage mods and near perfect skills + implant will do about 500 DPS, with 18km optimal and 22km falloff.
------------------------------------------ A big nuke may be nice in a strategy game, but something like this in a game where every unit is a player, and each death costly, is insane. |

Well I run Blastarte for lvl4 missions never had a problem... yet, but the new missions require some careful aggro and navigation. |

Actually, it rocks in gangs or to counter Vagabonds orbitting our of web-range. Of course, if you have a Domi or Mizuro web, a railastarte will smoke Vagabonds for breakfast. 500dps, a lot of it in kinetic damagage (Vaga weak point), while webbing it, will make it blow up VERY fast _______________________________________________
