I'm just wondering how the more dedicated mission runners play this:
I'm trying to go for a skillbook offer (at 15k lp), but so far i'm extremely unlucky. If i get an offer at 15k at all, it's most often a +3 implant which isn't that bad but compared with a skillbook it is. Now, there are a few ways to deal with this.
1. I can reject any offer, run 1 mission so that a new offer can be activated and meanwhile start running missions for other agents, that way creating a lot of opportunities for the skillbook. Disadvantage: can only run 1 mission for my best agent, which is l4 q18, while others are l4 q-5 and such.
2. Accept any offer (or at least wait for a +3 implant) and start anew with colleceting 15k lp and hope for more luck.
3. Just forget about skillbooks and collecting for something else which has a high value per lp (anyone knows what the next best offer for a gallente agent is)?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

those 15k offers r hard to get. if you wanna get it anyway, i'd say the 1st way is the best.

I wouldnt use the lvl 4 ql 18 agent to try get the connection books, a high quality lvl 3 is much better, It can take a while for you to recieve a connections skillbook offer. Which means resetting a lot.

Thanks so far. Could anyone also tell me what is the next best thing for LP? (It seems +4 implants are not worth safing for as multiple +3 implants are worth much more.)

If you are running a lvl4 with quality 18, depending on how long you can spend missioning i myself have got a navy apoc and navy megathron thru grinding lvl4s, got the navy apoc from grinding a lvl3 These are the sort of offers you should be aiming for or bpc of navy vexor ect or maybe save up for the +5 implant offers.
http://eveinfo.com/offers/ this site might be of some help for deciding what offer to go for.

Edited by: Red Rumurder on 11/04/2007 13:32:26 LP should never be used for implants - thats what story missions and 8k of some ore is for. 8k kernite = +4 implant all day baby (lvl 4)
i got all my connection skill books running my lvl 2's long time ago. lvl 4 is a waste for that, 2/3 missions your there and then you can't use the agent cause once you pass the next offer amount total bye bye book offer.

Do all the NPC corp agents give skill books? I'm working a Poteque agent at the moment, have about 20K skillpoints, and haven't been offered any skillbooks. I looked at the link someone else posted on this thread, and skillbooks didn't seem to be listed for the Gallente faction at all.

Level 3 kill missions or lvl 4 courier missions is the best way. You're gonna reject and reset offers a lot unless you really luck out. I've got all of them in my head and sold on another half-dozen at least, all earned from offers. You'll want agents where your only goal with them is to get the 15k lp, use another agent for the normal daily mission grind.
Lvl 4 couriers take a while to get to the 15k, but they'll hold in the sub-30k level the longest if you only do the one mission. If patient you're almost certainly going to get a book from them. Their books are usually the higher-priced ones too, although not the fastest selling. (They will sell at 100+M, you just have to not get nervous when some shmuck puts one up for the same price as Military Conn., let him sell it, and yours will sell the next day for 40M more.)
Also be aware of what books you can get from the agent, they give the two that affect their division.

Here's an option,
Run missions, take the offers you like, reject the ones you don't. All the extra ISK (read time saved) you'll have from running missions for one agent in one area, getting the loot, can be used to buy the stuff you didn't get.
You'll end up spending the same amount of time, you'll end up with the same amount of ISK in the end, so long as you don't buy the most expensive offers on the market. One +4 percep or willpower implant sold in the right region equals one connection skill book bought in the right region.
Faction ships is a different matter of course, but for the books and what not, until CCP implements the LP store, don't waste your time and effort trying to game agents. ISK always wins, everything else is fluff. -AS |
