Hi I've petitioned and bug reported the problem re: not receiving sec bonuses for killing rats. 
Please can someone from CCP tell me how long this will take to fix. It's affecting my gameplay as I can't enter high sec space and have no opportunity to work off my dark past.

two thoughts:
1: I'm unsure if you get a security-boost from kill rats in 0.0 space.. as Concord's eyes and ears don't reach that far.
2: getting from -for instance- 1.0 to 1.1 takes forever... check the 'security status'-tab in the character sheet. *
but now that I look at my own sec-stat screen... I can see in the last month or so... the only increases listed are from completing missions... not from individual ships.
*no, I'm not assuming you're idiots.. included that as a precaution.

I havent had sec status increase either since 06.04.2007. Even though I killed multiple ships.

I took the time to check with my journal what happened at those times yesterday:
2007.04.11 18:47 | +68,095isk | Corelum Chief Defender.
at around 17:15 I killed 6 100k+ cruisers
at around 17:02 I killed 20 small 30k frigates
at around 16:41 I didn't do anything... at all. prolly logged in then and it updated its database when that happened... checking... nope. logging out and back in didn't update it now.
if this tells you anything, good.. if not, oh well.

Only the BEST rat will improve your sec standing in any given 15 minutes period.
the sec standing improvement is a percentage of the amount remaining from where you are now, up to +5.
thus, if you are -10, you will get bigger improvements then if you are +4 (alot bigger)
to reiterate, you DO NOT get a sec status improvement from every single rat you kill. If you kill 1 rat, it will take 15 minutes for the sec improvement to show up in your char sheet. you may need to relog to see, but my sec is improving just fine.

also, I do not believe drones give sec improvements, just like they do not give bounties.
are you guys reporting the problem in the new drone regions?

bump.
sigh guys i appreciate every1s two penneth, but it's not about drones, or 15 minute timers, or what size rats you kill or checking the details of your character sheet - its simply a bug where sec status is NOT going up regardless.
Find it pretty frustrating that CCP haven't even responded with timescales for a solution to this problem

I had the same problem, 10 days without sec status gains, even if I had killed dozens of npc battleships. Petitioned it and was told about the 15 minutes thing grrrrr.
Now I think I figured it out. If you kill rats and then log out or leave the system before you get the sec status gain, you won't get it. Also after 15 minutes you will get the sec status gain only when you kill another npc.
It never was like this, it's something that came with the most recent patch (end of march). Don't know if it's intended or a bug.

Thanks for your post but like I said, it doesn't matter whether you log, or leave the system, theres no sec gain for killing rats, regardless of ANYTHING.

Maybe there's something wrong with some type of rats, or some region/constelllation/system?
Are you killing only one type of rats in only one area? are the people saying it works killing something else elsewhere?
It may be crap said like that, but as security status gain are linked to every ship type (or bounty or something in the ship stats that we don't see and tells the system that your security status should upgrade), the right thing to discuss would be what did you kill each time that did not upgrade your security status? Listing names of rats killed and comparing could give some clues about this issue.
Now you can flame me if you included every rat kill in your bugreport.

For what its worth. My sec status gain has a last entry dated 2007.04.05 22.23. Had nothing since. I'm in Empire doing level 4s at least once a day since then. So it would indeed appear bugged.

You sound a bit confused fellow..
So, for your options:
a) Quit Eve, probably the most efficient: less frustration for you, and CCP gets message/incentive to fix things
b) Give up ratting for sec status, find some other 'working' aspect of Eve, and focus on getting enjoyment out of them.
c) Petition it. You'll get better result if you 'proof' why it is a bug, and explain why it is not one of the known features (like 15min timer)
d) Discuss it here with other voluntarily members of the community; you'll get better result if you're polite and clear. CCP has no policy to read and respond to these threads.
But for something concrete; how about perform a good test and write results there? Something like:
1) At 17:00 checked security transaction log, which showed last entry of xxx, with initial status of Y.yy
2) At 17.25 killed rat called 'Xxxx' in system of Xxxx for X bounty, and went to safe spot to idle for 20 minutes
3) At 17.47 killed another rat called 'Yyy', and went back to the SS for 20 more minutes
4) At 18.09 checked security status transactions, which last entry showing 'Xxx', after which I logged off and back
5) At 18.11 checked again SST, and ..
With report like that we get clear indication how you assume the system works, and can try to replicate/discuss the issue.
If you feel it's not responsibility to do all that work, I seriously suggest trying options b) or a) above.

I think its a bug. AFAIK some time ago people used to kill a rat and move to the next system, since the 15 minutes timer was set to 0 in the new system.
If what you are describing is correct, it looks like they screwed up trying to fix it up. Or they might not have been able to carry the timer across systems and they decided to reset the rat secs once you jump instead, as the lesser of two evils.

i guess they are busy with eve-voice and walking in stations
why the **** do they start with that crap (wich is a completely useless ad to the game) if they cant even fix a damn bug

ive missioned the whole afternoon (lvl 3 missions) and got 1 ******* sec boost in about 5 hours
at this rate, i will earn a billion on bountys and lvl 3 mission rewards for getting my sec up from -3.0 to -2.0
tell me something, is this not ******* rediculous??? my last petition didnt even got answered
i did a bugreport asswell explaining exactly what the **** is going on.
do i need to pay for my subscription just to keep myself busy for months npcing to get a security boost once in a while?
and this is not the only account... i still got a -4.5 character i need to get up...
or is it a stealthnerf to highsec suicide pirates? |

I have/had the same problem. Suddently I did notice that my sec status wasent increasing as it should be. (And yes I do know about this 15 min rule)I got like increase every 20-25 kill and the changes ONLY did seem to work when I was doing missions and not NPCfng
So I did send in a petition and got a answer that did teach me something new, maybee it solves your problem to ?
The NEW thing is that you CANŠT leave the system for those 15 minutes U have the aggro timer on for your sec status to be registred !!
Before I was flying in 0.0, a NPC was at the gate and I killed it and moved on to my destination and still got the sec status improvment for that kill, now U dont

i did 3 missions in a row in the same system where my agent is located and i still dont get any increase, so imo it has nothing to do with the 15min thing u talk about, the rats are bugged
