Because these are often funny to read, and I have one I'd like to share, why not post your EVE moments that made you go "Oh crap.."
My story;
So I was traveling to a system that was underattack by a hostile capital fleet. I'm about 2 jumps away when the call to jump in is made because the gate on the other side is clear. I'm now 1 jump away, mid warp to the system the fight is in and double check to make sure the other side of the gate is still clear, I get the "OK!", and press jump when I come out of warp. Somewhere in the 5-10 seconds it took for my computer to load the new system I hear over vent "DO NOT JUMP, MOTHERSHIPS ON GATE!!!"....
So I load into the otherside. A Dictor, 2 or 3 intys and a Nyx and Aeon plus others I didn't have time to notice were sitting pretty much ontop of the gate. I uncloak and make my futile attemp to warp and see a my ship engulfed with flashing [X] swarming around it.  "Oh Crap....." ~ 5 seconds later my megathron pops. I did manage to save my Pod though

Trying to make a run out of EOA-ZC. Warp to the gate back to empire and bam

A sabre, drake, and some frig was there and I'm going "****, ****, ****."
I type in local gentlemen can't we talk about this?

the sabre mwd's into me and bumps me out of the bubble and I warp off.
Local was then filled with WTF's.

Insta'd to a gate in 0.0, and as I'm coming out of warp I see a dominix nestled comfortably in the warp rings, blasting off smartbombs like it was the 4th of july. I think I barely had time to say "oh crap" (or some variation of that) before my clone was activated. :)

I accidentally changed an order to some obscenely high value, realized that I just lost billions to market taxes...
and then I woke up and realized it was just a nightmare
Most I've ever lost to that for real is 100-200m or so.

I've had a few loses that I just figured I was better off getting up to pour another scotch rather than watching it happen.
Mainly my BCs against 20+ ship bubblecamps when I was only 2-3 months old.

Sitting on one side of a gate collecting a medium sized fleet to break a camp on the other side of the gate the Fleet Commander says over Vent, "Don't jump". Unfortunately I somehow manage to only hear "Jump" so off I go...alone. You can guess the rest...I died quite fast.

Was going through 0.0 in an AF, chased a frigate to a belt, killed him then realized a nuetral had come in local. I primed my guns and turned on scanner. Saw it was an Astarte, so I warped to 0 to the next gate. Into his small bubble, so I MWD to the gate, and right as i get to about 2500m, the astarte locked me. Gate refused access because I had auto return target and blasters primed...He killed me before I could get away. Have now turned auto return targeting off.

last night when i was ratting in a 0.0o system in providence all by myself in system for hours when all of a sudden
the system filled up rather fast with members of a pirate corp - and only one gate of system -
good thing i had a ton of safespots and a cloak on my vexor
It's just a game........Or is it?????

Along the lines of Dark Shikari's Market oh crap moments I bought a literal freighter full of Long Limbed Roes to trade for a juicy profit. I checked to see the destination was in hi sec (solo freighter in low sec = dead freighter). Unfortunately I did not check the route which required travel through several low sec systems. Faced with a freighter full of these things I scouted the route (more than once) and naturally it was heavily camped. Lost a fair amount unloading that crap elsewhere.

Was a member of a small frig gang raiding in hostile space. Jumped through a gate only to realize we had been baited and trapped. All but one of us made it through to a safe point where we sat and planned our attack. We came out to fight, so running wasnt an option. Here is the conversation:
FC: Align gate...weapons hot. Primary is XXX.
Fleet: roger...aligning.
FC: Stela...why are you warping...Stela! (Stela is my main, this is my alt posting.
Apparently I hit the warp to button in order to align quicker...but not being used to frigs I miscalculated the speed in which I turned...so before I could stop warp, I was in the tube flyin in.
I am sure the enemy fleet were thinking "WTF!" when a lone little merlin comes popping into space 15 from the gate...it didnt startle them enough not to pop me, and pod me unfortunatly.
I spent the next 5 minutes staring at my screen and questioning my own intelligence. Then I got to hear my brave lads go in and put up one heck of a fight against a greatly superior force.
In short...I missed one heck of a fight for being an idiot...as Goose would have said "We regret to inform you that your son is dead because he is a moron."

I'd been playing about six months, and still thought 5 million isk was a lot, when a group of us decided to team up to do some mining in a 0.4 system. I was using an iteron 4 to haul and had my much prized Partial Hull cargo expander fitted to one of the slots. Full up to bursting with jaspet, I suddenly get the call.. "pirates in local, bug out!". Following the advice of an older more experienced player I got my AP set and prepared to use the bookmark. As per advice, while in warp, I turned on the AP and waited with fingers crossed hoping I would jump very quickly after a bookmarked warp to 0.
Well.. it would have been perfect, had my AP not been set to a solar system that could only be reached by the the only other gate, where the pirates were actually camping. My itty re-warped off and delivered me and my lovely jaspet and highly prized cargo expander straight into the welcoming arms of Chaz Pounder and some of the other members of Beer & Kebabs corp.
There followed a series of ooh, around eight freeze frame vignettes along the lines of a Winterblink special. Itty cherry red and smothered in explosions, Itty inside a ring of fire, Itty in bitties, no Itty just a pod, then darkness and back in the station.
I was a bit upset, I can tell you. But, c'est la vie, its all in the learning curve... yeah... all in the learning curve.
I've spent quite a lot of time and effort trying to discover how to improve my frame rate since then.

Loaded a hauler up with goodies (about 100m worth) and set it home on auto pilot. Forgot to select 'avoid low sec' and afked into a rancer gatecamp in a hauler.

I remember, once upon a time, where engaging someone in lowsec, and then having lowsec jump to some ridiculous number with the target's backup, was an "Aww, ****" moment. Now, it's just lowsec. And 0.0. And empire, for those empire war monkeys. *weeps for PvP*

i was traveling through lowsec and finally found a target, a catalyst!
warped in at 30km from it in my rifter, i turned on my mwd and quickly had him webbed, scrammed and engaged, by the time he was shooting back i was halfway through his armor. suddenly theres a huge lagspike lasting about 6 seconds and i only saw "ship is out of control"
i thought to myself: wtf did he popped me
nope, i got concordokken'd
looks like there was a 0.5 system between all those lowsec systems

One day in Elarel, I was scrammed and subsequetly popped by the scrammer's drones within seconds. Turned out he only wanted to test his setup and didn't think my Mining-equipped Exequror would pop so fast. What a tool. 
(On the plus, his corp-mate repaid me, but I shouldn't have been put through such a dumb moment in the first place)

LAzily ratting in my home POS system in my nicely Rat Fitted Apoc(tm).. sorta falling asleep in my pod and chatting in alliance....
I didn't have my local on top =-(
A seriously fast Vagabond came in on me.. I tried to warp out, but I was right at the "warp in point" in the belt and he locked and scrammed me easy. Since Minnies naturally do damage opposite of Amarr strength and I was tanked for True Sansha's he just ate through my armor like butter and I couldn't hard touch his shields.
Lost a very nice passive TS Setup with several Eutectics... oh well.. got most of them from TS Spawns anyways =-)

A few days ago I was moving some blue prints from one station to another. Nothing too big, but they all had ME researched up to ridiculous levels. It was mostly through low sec so I was in a stabbed out Tristan. I breath a sigh of relive as I blow past the last low sec gate camp only to see the Tristan explode on the other side. The Amarr Navy had decided to remind me that they do not like those with -2.2 sec status in a 1.0 system.
So I'm in a pod looking at my can full of researched blue prints knowing whatever ship I take to get them will get WTFBBQed as soon as I get into system. My rest of my corp is out in BFE 0.0. Then I remember I had an alt 8 jumps out. I log in as the alt and haul ass to the 1.0 system hoping to get there before someone decides to take a look in the can. I got half of them back, but lost the other half in the ship destruction. Karma sure can be a beatch.

Whew, it cost almost every ISK I had, and took a serious training tangent, but I finally got a Buzzard with a Covert Ops Cloak!. Now I can finally get thru that bubble-camped 0.0 chokepoint, and go meet up with friends out by the POS!

When i was in MAFIA, then me tiller and one more, i don't remember the last name, jumped after a Hurricane into Akora from Messoya.
I was in a Tempest, tiller in a Rokh, and the last one i can't remember, but when we jumped in to take the Hurricane, then we almost had taken down the Hurricane, and here comes an Aeon jumping to the gate to try and save the Hurricane and to kill us.
I was like 'Oh Crap' and was thinking, lets get out of here, but we killed the Hurricane when the Aeon had locked and scrambled me. But the Aeon pilot attacked tiller in his Rokh first while i was trying to get out, without any luck, but tiller tanked the fighters until he could jump the gate back into messoya. And then the third pilot got out. And it was only me left there then.
So my Tempest got killed in the end.
And all of this happened so fast that i didn't even think of getting to the gate and jump, i was just thinking lets Afterburn from the Aeon, but was actually a mistake to do that. Actually i did 2 mistakes there, i didn't align to a station or whatever, i just aligned to the Hurricane we was killing.
So i did learn something there

Happened to a corpmate of mine.
He was hauling ore through 1 jump for a mining op. At one point in time, gate rats spawned. Usually not a problem, most haulers can warp away before the rats lock them. However, my corpmate decided to try offlining his cargo expanders "just to test" if that makes ships align faster....
... The test turned sour once he realized that cause he had a full cargo hold of Bistot, the ship was now overloaded and would not move at all in space  , as rats pounded him to death

Had a great one not too long ago.
So I'm happily flying around fountain in my vigilant and decide to take a trip up to f7c. It was a nice little excursion, almost got a few ganks, a few o/ in local as I pass a blue bubble camp.
Narrowly avoid getting ganked in f7c thx to the honourable guy there who warned me our little 1v1 at the gate was about to get blobbed by his corpm8's and let me escape.
Then it's time to cruise home and relax with my exotic dancers so I started back down the pipe.
Jump into the blue bubblecamp system, o/ in local, all blue still. Land in their large bubble and get a convo. "Get out of here or you'll die..." hmm those guys are not very friendly for blues 
The blues warp off. Local rises by about 25 and a bunch of D2 inties, hacs, bc's all uncloak.
Oh cra...

Buddy of mine was helping me with a mission and we like to shoot at each other a lot cause we're in the same corp.
He grabs a can with his tractor beam from right in front of me after I spent time flying to it, so I'm like "f--k you don't take my loot" and opened up on the can. Lost my caracal to concordokken.

I had been playing for a week.
Just made the big move into .08 space. I was cruising the asteriod belts in my new fancy frigate taking upwards of three rats at a time! I felt I owned this system. I was king.
After killing the rats in one particular belt, I noticed another ship came in. I thought "ha! I beat you to them". Just then, he starts getting closer to my loot can. I think "he wouldn't dare.." Sure enough, he looted my loot! Bastard!
I contemplate the situation and look at his ship. It's a frigate. I say to myself "I can take three rats at a time and barely take damage, this guy is toast..."
The decision having been made, I approach his ship, set optimal orbit and lock target. The adrenaline was pumping through me.
"Shields up! Fire phasers!"
Suddenly, pew..pew..pew and I notice my shields are gone and most of my armor. My hands were shaking so bad I couldn't hardly operate my mouse.
I have to warp out! What the hell? I can't warp? I must be bugged? and what's this swirly stuff around my ship? OH CRAP!!AAAHHHH!!
KA-BOOOOOOM!!!!
I finally get my pod to dock. I lean back in my chair and try to breathe normally. The rude awakening had happened.
It is indeed cold in space. Lesson learned

I woke up in 9CG in a sniper-fitted Megathron the day after a pretty good fleet fight. Since it was just me and 2 other guys from my corp there at the time vs 100 or so IRON/Morsus Mihi (damn these time zone wars), I decided to dock in the station and jump clone out. Later some corpmates were roaming around nearby in a small gank squad, so they went to 9CG so I could get the ship out. Because my jump clone timer hadn't run out yet, I pod jumped instead and joined the gang to go roaming.
Half a dozen jumps later, it occurred to me that I didn't update my clone after pod jumping.

Mine probably was the following:
I was transporting my Megathron from 1V- (at that time in -V- control) to M-M, think about 17 jumps total. Because the pipeline was reported clear of hostiles I moved without a scout. Foolish enough, halfway I ran into a Snig Tempest looking for blood....
Because my mega was travel fitted I just had to run to the next gate.... "Oh crap... wrong bookmark" warped in at 15km instead of 0km from the gate with Snig on my tail
He locked... and fired... I'm checking clone...
"SNOWBALLS"???? What the fk?
Think it was a few days after Christmas... thanks for the laugh CCP...
Of course the Snig was laughing his behind off....

Was ratting in 0.0 the other day. Things got a bit hot and I had to warp out. Due to no station nearby I had established a container bay with resources and some smaller ships floating in space. My Megathron was below 5% structure and so I left it to enter a different ship. The Mega ( My first BS ) went boom as soon as I left it because only my skills kept it alive ...

Leading a coalition gank squak into 3-f and having a cyno field pop local. please note i work two jobs and was on about 2 hours sleep for a 22 hour work day before coming home to play eve. so anyway i clicked on the cyno , saw the square was at a moon. got a gang invite in channel and went to invite the guy and accidentally warped to the cyno. ofc it brings me out at a fix pos which promplty pastes my shiny lachesis.
f-ing embarassing, but hey i was dog tired is my only excuse :)

Before warp to 0, I found out the hard way that even flying in an interceptor, if a hi sec suicide ganker finds a machariel BPC in your hold, he WILL kill you no matter how small or fast your ship is.
Of course it survived.
If I had an Alt I would probably post with it... |

Had my first BC, a shiny new Ferrox, and was ratting in 0.0 space with a buddy in his BS. I had about two months experience in Eve. Two pirates warp in and start pew pewing us. Thought us, oh you are so dead. 
We engage, and all of a sudden, six more pirates warp in. The screens flash, warp scrambled, dead about 15 seconds later. WTF! WTF!
So that's how they play... nasty...

My moment was back in 05 when G Alliance and Forsaken Empire was at war with Paragon Syndicate.
I was on my way in an Apocalypse to help my PS mates with taking down a POS, but the route was hostile so I decided to rat in the M-OEE8 system which was nice.
Later I docked up for the night and decided the next day again to go and rat there.
No such luck as when I jumped in to M-OEE8 and appeared on the other side, there were a small fleet of G and FE ships there camping the gate.
It didn't take them long to tear through my Apoc and after a very short time I was sitting in my fresh clone wondering what the hell to do now.
