I'm wondering if somthing exists out there which can give you an ISK value of module/ammo/ect based on current mineral prices. Such a tool would be useful in determining what to do with loot (reprocess it, sell it to a buy order, place sell order, or keep it for personal use). I know how to figure the values out it out but it is a PIA to look up the item, do the math on the mineral prices such, and is time better spent getting more ISK in other ways (time is money).
If no such tool exits I think it would be easy enough to make with an Excel spreadsheet. The only thing I would need is some sort of data dump of the current item database as I sure as heck am not going to key in then names of all those mods and their mineral content. Is there a place to grab that data?

I've seen a good looking and free(?) program that focused on miners & industrialists that I believe accomplishes what you ask for - getting the total worth of a thing based on mineral values. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of it, but if I found it I'm sure everyone else can. As I remember it the input didn't come from a database. It was written by the user. ______________________________________________

There is a calculator that will give you value per m/3 there. the page works in the IGB as well. -=^=-

Great site, but not really what I'm looking for. I'm not looking for ore values, or value / m3 of a mineral.
Something like this....
Item
Afterburner 1
Tritanium 637 units X 2.4/u = 1529 Pyerite 579 units X 9.2/u = 5327 Mexallon 1 unit X 23.0/u = 23 NocXium 1 unit X 280.0/u = 280
Total value = 7159 ISK
I guess the base prices would give you a ball park figure but with mineral price fluctuation the actual value changes. The Afterburner I has a base price of 6450. The price of pyerite probably has a lot to do with the difference. I also just noticed that some named items have a lower base price than the un-named TI equivalent. cold-gas i arcjet thrusters have a base of only 3952 and much different mineral makeup (110 pyerite, 8 isogenn, 1 zyradine.) Actual mineral value is only about 3300 (low zyradine prices).

Edited by: Theo Ramone on 12/04/2007 16:18:44 I've found, as a general rule, to go with 25%. If the sell value of the item in question is greater then 25% under market value its better to reprocess it.
Thats a general rule mind you. Theres items that even with resale over 50% under market value are still better of being sold as is and not refined, then theres items that even with a resdale value of a few % higher them average you still come out ahead reprocessing.
Once you do it a bit though you get used to what items to look at for resale vs reprocess. Most items give such small quantities of high value ore (not all mind you) that you really only need to factor the trit and pyr values. Check the market resale for the item, do a reprocess and see how many minerals you get. To keep the math simple round trit prices to 2 and pyr to 8 (I think it was, would have to check, been a while).
Alot of the named stuff you can resell at a hell of a hit and still come out ahead, most of the regular stuff it varies from a wash to much better off to reprocess.
For example, ammo is almost 100% reprocess. Armor plates are almost 100% reprocess. Beam weapons you it varies but usually reprocess, NOS modules almost always sell.
Thats for the particular area I spend my time in, it may vary for your area.
