Just wanted to say congrats to the idiots that crashed the covert ops cloak markets :)
The price has halved in less then a month. I was selling them for 65m in Gulf about 2 weeks ago, that was until someone went and put up 15 of them for 40m, market never recovered from that.
So, way to go!

I'd say that invention is doing what it was intended to do.
As an amusing note and a tip to other traders out there. There is a reasonable buy market now on a lot of T2 items that would allow low escrow holding players to get in on for a decent return now. |

ROFL. This post is quite amusing. I bet if I went over to the ships and module forum someone would be asking why their targeting range is so small now.

Yes. Clearly the single guy who put up 15 of them for 40m a piece crashed the market. Have you heard about invention?

Actually the congrats would be appropriate: if they actually got all theirs sold for 40 million each then they are geniuses now given that they are hitting sub 20 million in many markets...
That seems a lot smarter than the guys who held on to huge T-II inventories hoping that somehow their aggregious pre-invention profit margins would return.
Think about it this way: if 40 million is way too low you should be buying them up... Are you buying at 40?

Well it seems to have stabilised at around 37 Mill in Jita at the moment although I expect prices to continue to fall further - perhaps not so fast though ...

I dont know. To me I'd think some of the lost margin would be made up by the increased volume in sales.
I for one have certainly taken advantage of the T2 market now that the prices are lower. Before hand I'd likely just about never put things like T2 fittings on say.... a cruiser or battle cruiser. Now I wont even think twice about it. I mean at one point a T2 Cap recarger alone cost almost as much as a Ferox.
Now while my fittings are worth a fair bit more than my ships usually, pretty much all T2 fittings have fallen into the realm where some one like me considers them a worthwhile expendature none the less.
I know I'm not the only one either. Alot of other players I know have started using T2 equipment in far more ships than they used to. As such alot of us are now sporting all T2 fittings where before we'd normally make due with just some basic named T1's. And that wasnt for lack of the ability to use T2 at all. It was simply allways a matter of the cost of such items.
For those that have BPOs they'll still have a major advantage, in that they wont have nearly the time/cost involved as one faces with invention.
In the end I too have to give a thumbs up to who ever crashed the cloak market. Because now I can reasonably afford one :D

Dear Drakus,
The fact that it has crashed is a good thing since it will make people buy more of them and you can make up lost profit in the volume sale.
Now for the items you previously bought, jsut take the loss and sell them anyway. I have lost 100M of isks in some failed venture when the game mechanism was changed and you just have to really spread your risk by buying various set of items for resale. Sometime you get lucky, other time not. ---------
Sadly I just make ISK, I don't print it. :(

It was one of the first things out corp started spitting out when invention came along. As a covert opts pilot, the prices were insanely high, often doubling the price of the ship they go on.
Your greed will not work any longer as a driving market force.
Im quite happy that the market crashed on them. And so are all my customers. We never made out billions from them anyway, and was just a side venture which seemed to pay off nicely.
We are also working on "other" high dollar rip-off pricing units, so if you have any of these bpos as well, time to dump your stock, before we hammer you there too.
T2 for the common (wo)man.

You know even though I have been one of those fellas who was hit in the mouth with invention on a few items... in reality all I really lost was total perceived asset value it's not like I still cannot move the items just at a reduced price.
So in short huzzah to you inventors, you are making the game better for everyone by making it more accessible to everyone. |

Yeah. I wonder how many years decades of production profit it will take for some people to earn back their initial investment.

I bought some T2 bpos recently and paid too much for them, especially considering more have been seeded. I can tell you why I personally did that. My isk is either spent on consumable products like ships, modules and ammo or is spent on permanant assets like blueprints. In short, isk is convertable into either expenable assets or non-expendable assets. Bpos and rare ships are the ultimate in non-expendable assets. They have lots of uses and there are a lot of ways to make money off them and best of all, they are a finite resource.
While they now have to compete with invention and are arguably worth a lot less than current prices, getting a T2 bpo in five years time is almost certainly not going to be as easy as getting one now and to be perfectly honest... it's just isk. Isk is easy to get and easy to lose, isk invested in a solid, useful asset that you can't lose is a great long-term goal. Tech 1 bpos are the same and I have lots of those, tech 2 bpos are just something different. It's just... nice to own one (five).

This is basically the reason I'm getting a few T2 BPO's now. But I did wait for this massive price crash first... now if I see a decent deal I'll pick one up. I figure it is something different... which to me is very important. I'm tired of my current trading. It works very well but it's rather dull. Figure if I add some spice to it with producing a few T2 items it would be more fun... we'll see how it goes. I'll prob be producing my own capital ships and building my own POS's as well... not really sure what to do with the rest of my money. But I guess 3 new areas is a good enough start.

Well the problem is, T2 BPOs still sell for much too much isk, most still price it at 1 year+ production profit based on pre-crash prices.

all I know is that I've been selling datacores like a maniac. Even though they are cheap as hell now, doesn't matter. I'd be lucky to sell a couple a day before, now they freaking disappear if all I do is undercut people in Jita. It would be one thing if there were a zillion datacores on the market and no one was buying them. But the current situation is quite the opposite, and tells me also that t2 items have a bit more to go in terms of price drops (the bottleneck now is liable to be the decryptors and data interfaces, but one of those is apparently dropped frequently in exploration, and the other doesn't wear out.)

Perhaps you should post some kind of proof before posting stuff like that, especially when it's directed at a respected trader.

Can't do much but laugh at that, sorry . I've handled billions per month of public money as part of the ISS. When I left, I could have stolen 1-2 billion in corp wallet isk, 400m in stockpiled jump clone payments and could have gotten a zero-collateral ISSO loan for many tens of billions due to the trust ISS had in me and I could have simply never repayed the loan. I have run several lotteries for 1-2b each and always paid out the prizes, I write and edit for EON magazine (voluntary) and have done a lot of business in the past that has relied on trust.
If scamming was ever my goal, I could have done it a long long time ago for huge sums of isk. I can safely say that the vast majority of eve that knows me would trust me with most of their isk and that trust wouldn't be misplaced. I haven't had any dealings with WhiskeyDP except for the odd post on the forum but from his bio, I assume he's a competant trader. There's not much you can glean of someone's character from a bio, though.
However, that's getting wildly off-topic in this thread, people should probably convo me in-game to discuss any concerns like this if they have them. Thread hijacking isn't the best way to start a conversation.
