Edited by: Aeaea on 13/04/2007 00:58:55 Picture yourself in the following situation, youÆre in a small skirmish, your gang has eliminated all noticeable support, and you are aligned as a precaution. Your armor starts dipping too low and you hit warp, nothing happens, youÆve missed a scrambling notification and are about to pay the price.
In EVE many important messages are displayed in these small black boxes that scroll by very quickly, you might miss an important one like...
à has started warp scramblingà
With hundreds of messages popping by in the period of even a short fight, it is extremely easy to miss an important one such as a scrambling notification, with potentially disastrous consequences. With the prices of competitive ships constantly rising, losing one is a rather harsh penalty just because you missed a message that stayed up for your screen for less then a second.

Totally quoted, for shame purposes
EDIT: On topic, I like the suggestion about having your speed indicator turn red. That'd be nifty. --------

atm the overview allready helps lag out the client as it is, that would be something i'd probably remove from my overview during anything bigger than a small gang fight. -------------------------------------

It wouldn't really contribute to lag since the client already knows if you're scrambled (read the article on the effects), so the effect should be very minor.

The speed notifier seems the best imo, throwing anything more around the upper locked area would only increase the crowdedness, and the status next to the locked-box would require you to actually look directly at who is jamming you, which might be harder with 5km orbiting inties
The speed notifier is the most clear, direct, and frontal of them all. Great idea ---

Definitely good stuff and although I like the last idea with the red/yellow indicators I really, really would like to know who it is that is web/scramming me. Even better to know who has how many points on me but maybe that is asking too much of the UI.

Paint ftw!!!
http://dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/MrLobster/2007.03.31.20.10.jpg
Main Features
1) Red indicator on speed bar to denote scrammed.
2) The word webbed attached to speed value, I think this isnt a great solution and any other work arounds would be good.
3) Seperate indicators for being Damped/Jammed/Painted/Disrupted.
4) Current Cycle time indicators, each active module would have a clock style timer which display the time remaining before the next cycle, Green would be currently in cycle and red would be reloading.
5) A new button on the left "S" which will bring the ship to a complete stop.
btw I was in a hurry so I nabbed someones screen shot off eve-files >:D
EDIT: Make Link a Linky EDIT2: Oh that link at the bottom of the OP's post isnt his sig, so i didnt know he already did the screeny thing __________________________

i believe the red indicator bar only. you can tell when your webbed by your speed slowing.
Anything more than that and you make pvp alittle too 'open' for lack of a better word. People know how many points u have on and web's you can judge a situation with too much accuracy.
I like pvp being unknown in these type of things. In actual fact you could as easily have a blue square after the flashing red square when your being fired at\scrambled. Telling you whos scrambling you - again tho is this too much information? --------------------------------------------------------

Seems like a great idea to me, but I have seen videos where adventurous frigates have attacked bigger ships solo, run out of cap and had their scrambler shut off but still killed the bigger ship because the bigger ship had assumed they remained scrambled. In gangs this is all very useful but it's a shame that it could prove detrimental to this type of pvp - small ships, and it may have consequences for solo pvp which also seems hard to come by nowadays. Working a solution in, such as "this effect only occurs when fighting multiple hostiles" might be quite hard to weave in RP wize.
Still seems a good idea though.

well if we're on about changing the UI, how about we let me reactivate modules i've accidently turned off before the end of their cycle? -------------------------------------

Well, I guess this would make sense, because when you are dampened/jammed/tracking disrupted, you get a little indication bar telling you who is doing it. Warp scramblers are forms of electronic warfare, just like these other modules, so it would be fair enough to implement this idea. ------------

See kids? THESE are some ideas!
I've been saying since the week I started playing we need a cycle time indicator JUST LIKE THAT on modules, only I had it rotated 180 degrees. Change the red to be on ewar and turrets for when the activation failed a hit/successful jam and make it darker too for colorblind folks. The way it turns red now if you're turning off a module should have it turn dark green if it has to complete cycle (ecm, cyno), or just stop then and there if it doesn't (mining lasers).
Although there should be an indicator for how many warp points you have fit (base 1, base 3 on blockade runners) and how many warp points you're being hit for (base 0). -----
