Edited by: Iria Ahrens on 14/04/2007 05:40:09 The Sigil is supposed to be a newer model of ship than the Bestower, but the bestower, the older ship, seems to outperform the sigil in every way. In cases like this, I would assume that the difference comes down to production costs, but the Sigil loses there too with a higher sell cost.
Am I missing something? The only questionable difference I see is the Sigil has 5 low slots and 3 middle, where the Bestower is 4/4.
Is that 1 lower slot really worth the slower speed, smaller shield, slower recharge, 30% lower HP, weaker radar, lower agility, 37.5% smaller cargo capacity?
Normally, I don't mind taking a small performance in the name of better looks, and the Sigil, at least from the ship gallery picture, looks much better, but otherwise, it seems like a total write off. At the very least, it should be 30% cheaper or something.

Agility and Mass is what makes the Sigil worth while. Put on inertial stabilizers, nano fibers and warpcore stabilizers and you can run most gate camps without interdictor support.
It enters warp almost as fast as a frigate.

Edited by: Kery Nysell on 14/04/2007 13:18:31 Slower speed ? Check your facts mate, the Sigil is the fastest T1 industrial of the game, with a base speed of 155 m/s vs the 125 m/s of the Bestower (both get a +5% per level of Amarr Industrial to that).
And like the poster above me said, mass and agility ... with a good setup, that thing can reach speeds in the range of 1000 m/s, AND turn and enter warp as fast as a frigate (and even faster than some of the Caldari frigates, the Kestrel is really lumpy for a frigate).
Yes, you won't have a huge cargohold, but for running "small" (3000m¦ +5% per level) amounts of stuff in dangerous space, it's the best ship without needing the huge skills for the T2 industrials.

The Sigil is as close to SEXY as you can get in an industrial! It'll dance like a frig if you set it up right, and as long as your cargo fits in it, the Bestower isn't even an option

hmm, i totally did not know that, i might have to consider one for low-sec running.

Sigil is awesome: 2 wcs, 2 inertia stabilizers and 1 nanofiber. Never caught in one ________________________________________ First atheist amarr on EVE |

Can also fit a 10mn MWD on this baby with a combo of low mods - not sure how many other T1 indies can do that.
But as others have said - time to warp is the thing. |

Last I checked only a Mammoth (barely) and an Iteron-5 could fit an MWD among the T1 industrials. Admittedly I have not checked in awhile so maybe CCP changed something along the way.

That would be a good idea ... it's the "training time investment" that makes it shine, Amarr Frigate 3, Spaceship Command 3 and Amarr Industrial 1 can be done in less than a day (on an alt created for that, even faster on a "main" character), for a ship almost as good as the T2 Blockade Runners (those are better, of course, but they need Industrial 5 ...).
But, keep in mind that it's a T1 Industrial, with T1 resistances, and no real way to tank it ... it's fast, agile, and sexy-looking, but ultimately frail ... the trick is to outrun the opposition with that ship

The sigil is the fastest industrial to warp aside from the iteron-5.
And it only requires indy 1 instead of indy 5. Pretty handy if you ask me. ---------------------------------------- Thou Shalt "Pew Pew" |

Ok, it looks like when I was comparing these two ships with quickfit, I had the bestower active with max skills and was comparing the sigil. Apparently, comparisons like this do not apply max skills to both ships, so I was looking at a skill maximized bestower vs raw sigil numbers and didn't realize it.

The humble sigil used to be the ultimate looter ship, back in the days prior to the nano nerf and prior to salvaging. Zipping around 1km/s with a afterburner/nano setup and warping faster than many frigs. Salvange introductions ment that destroyers are better lootships, and the nano nerf really hurt the sigil usefulness.
But in the past - they were easaly eve's number 1 lootship. --
