Using Pyfa, with the all skills to V character, I got this :
Orca, without mining drones yield rig : 55 688 ]m3/h] (11 137.6 per drone)
Orca, with 3 rigs (2 tech 2 and 1 tech 1) : 81 011 [m3/h] (16 202.2 per drone)
Hulk, 3 MLU, tech 2 mining crystals, without drones : 111 093 [m3/h]
yield of 5 mining drones on the Hulk : 18 563 [m3/h]
Total max yield with same fit and mining drones rig : 135 642 [m3/h]
Everything for the Hulk is without boost, so you could go even higher than that, it wouldn't change anything for the Orca to have boosts.

when comparing to mining ships while using orca consider the huge gigantic ore hold and the time you spend on smaller vessels while you travel back and forth. |

Pyfa numbers are probably very misleading.
My personal experience:
My Orca mines about 1/3 the ore as my hulk while staying about 3000m from the rocks.. Note that the hulk is boosted from the Orca and uses 5 mining drones as well.
With no Hulk, I would say that the Orca mines close to 2/3 the ore as a solo hulk. But you don't have to warp every 2 cycles so that would make the Orca the better choice.
Plus you don't have to worry about getting ganked in the Orca.

True that distance between the Orca and the asteroid make an very big difference in yield. And that the ore hold of the Orca definitely make it to compensate a lower yield.
When I mine in a Porpoise I litteraly hug the ore I'm mining, so less than 100m for the small roids and less than 600m for the big ones. Anything higher and you'll lose a lot in yield, still the Orca being a very big ship, it's hard to stay that close and still able to move around the belt.
The manufacturing job of my orca is about to finish actually, I'll get it out in belt and see what it's like compared to the Porpoise.

With full skills and 3 Drone Mining rigs you can get 1637m3/min - flight time for 5 augmented mining drones, i.e. 98220m3/60min theoretically.
