While im not suggesting that FIN-U is a scam. I believe that only FIN and NOT FIN-U has excutors with control over securities to provent scammin.

My questions were never intended to attack the legitimacy of Eefrit's bond offering, merely to find out what was going on on the inside. I personally doubt very much he is plannnig to scam, and a quick peruse through his bonds thread probably points to around 40b issued so far (not counting the high rollers who probably put a lot more in).

Originally by: Ricdic Hey Eefrit, just curious to know how many bonds have been sold to date, and/or the amount of capital raised thus far.
Total sold = 29,782. This equates to just under 30 Billion Isk.
Originally by: Ricdic Also,I notice this is open ended, so I wonder how you are getting around creating more shares? I assume you have a big bundle, but does this have any affect on dividends, ie do you have to do multiple dividends to negate the excess shares in holding for further bond sales.
The dividends are given as a % each month, so yes I have to issue that % for each bond even for those that are in the corp wallet still. For example last month 31 Billion Isk in dividends were issued, but only about 800 Mill Isk of that went to bonds not in the corp wallet. There are effectively 1 Trillion Isk in bonds which was chosen as it is more than I ever expect to need.
Originally by: Ricdic Final question. When do you believe you will no longer need further capital and stop the bond issuance? Already the value on FIN-U shares is below your price due to the mass market flooding of them. I wouldn't call this bad, as I have picked up a sizable portion well below cost, but just curious.
I will stop accepting investments when I can no longer effectively utilise the furthur investment to obtain decent returns on investment. I made it clear in the sales and discussion threads that there is no buyback policy, so people may sell below IPO if they want to free up some cash fast. However a lot are still selling at IPO prices on the exchanges - you can check those volumes yourself.
Originally by: Takahashi Arran presumably though if you were to scam here the executors of fin would declare you un-trustworthy and seize that operation?
IF FIN-U were to be a scam, I would expect the trustees to sell off the FIN security to protect the FIN investors, however that would not protect the FIN-U investors. FIN-U is unsecured so if you don't trust me then please don't invest. The trustees have enough of my real life details to make my real live very difficult if I were to scam in Eve.
Ricdic, I did not take your questions as any attack or question of integrity but rather as just questions, so don't worry about that.
Sincerely,
Eefrit

1. Please fix the link in the sales forum post to this forum - it's kinda screwed at the mo. 2. Can a corporation hold bonds? Ie would you issue bonds to a corp, rather than an individual?
Thank you

Thanks for pointing that out. I have now fixed it.

Yes, I will happily sell to corps but it is easier if someone in the corp buys them and then transfers them to the corp. If you are adamant about wanting them sold directly to a corp, you need to make sure the Isk is sent from the corp wallet and that you post or evemail me letting me know it is for the corp and not for the person sending the Isk.

Eefrit

No, I haven't forgotten my last 10 months investments with Eefrit either, and the faith he has built up in me personally and the community at large. He is exactly what the market needed after EIB, and if you doubt him you haven't done your research, there are very very few who hold the trust Eefrit does with the FIN brand.

Two quick questions...
First is I know you had indicated that 7% is guarenteed through July of '08, but I was curious what a potential customer might expect after this time. I can understand not being able to definitively say, but wanted to see if there was any guidance you could offer.
Secondly, I wanted to confirm if there are still bonds available for sale.
Thanks for your time!

Is this because Eefrit has reached the level of ISK he can actually use to get returns for his bond holders or some other reason?
Had to be asked.

They're only due end of the month. Now that it's sold out there's no need to dividend bi-monthly.

Little offtopic but anyways, any estimate how long FIN will be paying 4% to collect enough collateral for 120% security or whatever the goal was?

Originally by: Eefrit The difference between bonds and shares are that with shares you are buying a portion of the company and own a portion of the company whereas with bonds you own a portion of the profits of the company but not the company itself.
A bond is a debt security and normally is not linked to "profits" in anyway except on the secondary or derivitives market. Bond are usally issues with a 'face value' rate of return which is payable at a specific period of time.
The value of a 'bond' over a loan is that a bond can be onsold in a secondary market for a value comesurate to the risk assosicated with the issue at a moment in time. It is an easily transferable note taking into consideration changes in the market risk profile of the company, and the likehood of the bond failure. A loan on the other hand is a contractual agreement between entities that is not transferable.
What does all this mean for EvE?
Anyone who sells a "bond" in this game is actually asking for a loan. Unless the debt can be transfered in a secondary fashion... it is nothing more than a basic loan gussied up in fancy dancy money witchdoctor speach to make them look important.
I hope that explains what a 'bond' is more accurately.
