how can one see or find out the exact missile range? flight time x max velocity is very vague, as i found out that i can hit further than that

It should be pretty accurate - a bit shorter if anything to allow for the missile accelerating.
Did you factor in skills in your calculations?

While in your ship, right-click it and Show Info. There is a tab on the info window that says Modules, click on that. Scroll down to the missiles you have loaded, and click on the blue info button there. Now, take the flight time x velocity, then multiply it by like 0.96 (to account for acceleration). The stats here take into account your skills and the ship's bonuses, if any. Why there should be a breathalyzer to login to Eve:

Will Right Clicking the loaded launcher work while in space to show the affected missile adjustments? I know for a fact looking at it from the cargo bay won't work.

No, because right-clicking the launcher shows the launcher info, not the missile info. When I said right-click above, I meant right-click your ship and show info. Why there should be a breathalyzer to login to Eve:

Also while docked open your fitting window. Then right click show info on the missle not the launcher. The info it displays will be skill based. You will still have to do the math of flight time x missle velocity, but at least you don't have to compensate for your skills. Hope the helps.

No, you cannot hit "further" than max velocity x flight time.
What you are seeing is the difference between true range and v * t.
Let's say I'm flying towards a target, who is also flying towards me. When I compute v * t I get 50km. I fire when the target is at 55km. I will in all likelihood hit that target. Why? Because in the time it takes my missile to arrive, the target has gotten closer, effectively shrinking his range and coming within the v * t scope.
Opposite scenario. Compute v * t still equal to 50km. Target is now flying AWAY from me. I fire at 47km. Hit? Doubtful. Most likely, that target will cover the required distance to outrun v * t before my missile arrives. Even though he was "in range", I missed.
Missiles are a very "feel" oriented weapon. When you use v * t, it only gives you a basis for deciding whether or not to fire. The more complex considerations are left for you, the player, to evaluate.

it helped, thanks for that. i also found ot that clicking info on your ship while in space, selecting modules and charges also gives the stats modiffied by skills and ship bonuses.

Just wondering if my ship speed is added to the missil speed when fired. For example I'm closing on my target at a rate of 300m/s, and my missil has a speed of 3000m/s, would the efective speed be 3300m/s?. Another example, I'm chasing target at 500m/s but not closing, would effective speed be 3000m/s or 2500m/s? In other words is the missil max speed a true max? Or is it relative to the ship firing it? The latter would be more realistic in a gravity free vacuum, as there is no air friction to limit its speed, just the propellent charge..., a missile fired from an unmoving ship should be much slower in absolute terms than on fired from a ship with MWD engaged.

v*t is kinda accurate when the target is not moving/moving 90 degree from you. The missile use a predictive chase pattern that make going 90 degree from them not consume fuel. ----

short answer : no. Even if it is not realistic (in real life, missile speed is mach 3 + initial launch platform speed). ----
