Can it be that selling things on distance is a bit buggy?
When i try to sell something to another player that has a lower price then me on his buyorder, its instead selling myself the item for the lower price, so theres no way i sell something to others via distance if i have an active buyorder on that item that is the highest.
Secondly i had an item vanishing (luckily it was only 200k worth), i tried to sell that item to someone else that had a higher price on his buyorder, but oversaw that he doesnt buy in the system where the item was. A message occured telling me that no one buys for that price, ok so far. I tried then to create a sellorder for it => "Item not found" WTF ?!?
I opened log and there was no entry for that item, it just vanished from my inventory as if it was sold but it wasnt (how could) Even half an hour later no sighting of that item :(

As far as I can tell, the markets are horribly borked. I don't know if it's global or just certain players that are affected. I see people with orders that should be in range of me, that aren't green. Also like you, can't sell to the right order, etc. etc.
They supposedly fixed these problems with the last patch :)
As for your items disappearing, I haven't had that. But all my cans, cargos, and hangars have to be shut and then reopened after any transactions to reflect reality.
Man, did they ever bugger things up with the last couple of patches! Whooo...

Wait a second... you are complaining that when you have the highest buy order on the market and you go to sell something, you sell it to yourself? Have you recently suffered head trauma?

When you buy or sell an item it will always sell to the highest/lowest order no matter which one you clicked on. It will however sell/buy at the price of the order you clicked on, benefiting the order holder.
