Well we've had a lot done in regards to enhancing and balancing combat ships. We've seen the inclusion of new combat ships. Freighters will drop loot. Soon we'll have Faction Wars and all even more opportunities for people to pew-pew. So how about giving us haulers a few treats too? I wouldn't mind seeing some more ships in the Industrial category, a few more slots given to ships or otherwise a boost. If CCP intends to make EVE even more hostile than it already is perhaps the Industrial side of things ought to be boosted too. Truckers gotta survive these increasingly turbulent times too.
Just wanted to make the suggestion before all the code gets written. thanks.

What kind of new haulers would you be interested in? AFIAK, the main, and only task for haulers it to haul stuff, so other than bigger and bigger ships with larger cargo holds ... what more could there be to a ship that hauls stuff? The only thing that comes to mind is a blockade runner type ship but certainly, there are ships in Eve that you could outfit with that sort of thing in mind already.

Or CCP could actually try to make Blockade Runners (ie. Transport Ships) usefull..

There is a bit of a gap between 3rd Tier indies and Freighters. Transport ships boost shields, but they are slower and heavier. Personally, I would like to see a lighter/faster turning & warping tier 3 Transport ship. :)

Mini-freighters - Ships that act like a freighter but haul less, but are cheaper and faster to warp transport Freighters - Same idea as transports but much bigger.
There are MANY different variations out there that would be useful for hauler pilots.
mini-freighter that allows you to pick up stuff from space ships that can carry only ore, or only minerals but have much more space, eg. Can carry 6k of regular stuff, but 10k of minerals or 10k ore or something. Things like that.

I'd love to see what they have planned for the new "capital" Industry ship. It might be something with a sizeable cargo hold and a jumpdrive (among other things). This would allow it to run a couple blockades, at least in lowsec and 0.0

theres no point, with a Iteron V you can get a little over 38k m3 since rev's expanison.
just get all 5 T2 cargo expanders and 3 cargo expansion rigs.
some isk needed. ============================================ Sleep is for the Dead. |

Right, because putting 150M worth of cargo expanders & rigs on a paperthin ship to carry around valuable cargo is a brilliant economic decision...

Has a capital industry ship been confirmed? If so, evidence?
Personally I would love to see a ship that has a siege mode, but based on a industry ship. Like a deployable moon miner, except it does belts or something?

As it stands, I believe that T1 haulers are fine as they are. T2 haulers need buffs though. The blockade runner needs more speed / agility, and the transport needs more cargo room and better defenses. With that being said, there is still a noticeable gap between haulers and freighters. There is also a lack of a good transport ship for moving stuff to / from 0.0. Both of these needs can, in fact, be filled with a single ship. I propose CCP introduce a medium freighter with perhaps half the cargo room of a standard freighter, but with an optional jump drive module.
Having such a ship will bridge the gap between haulers and freighters quite nicely due to it's medium size and cost (compared to a full freighter). With the purchase of a jump drive module (requiring extra training, of course), this ship can be used to transport large amounts of goods to / from 0.0 space. Some may say this makes 0.0 transportation too easy, but I think it's exactly what we need. CCP has stated quite often that they want more people in 0.0, but if you think about it, the most difficult part of 0.0 living is moving goods. You either have to take chances moving small amounts of cargo in a T1 / T2 hauler / covert ops ship, or use a carrier to haul instead. None of those methods are very easy or efficient...not to mention using a WARship for moving cargo is downright stupid.
The end result is that empire haulers will have a medium freighter that's more affordable, and 0.0 residents have a highly safe and efficient way to establish trade routes and move supplies. When it becomes easier to live in 0.0, you'll get more people moving out there. More people = more conflict = more pew pew. So having safer methods of transportation will ironically make life better for the PvPers too. ----------------------------------- You will be assimilated...bunghole! |

Quoting Oveur from This Devblog he posted in the beginning of 2007...
Originally by: Oveur And talking about capital ships, the rumour is that ORE have one in the works. Unofficial sources state that it's not a miner per se, but is something every industrialist wants to have in his backyard.
So yes, I'd rate that as "confirmed"

I think the biggest need by far, is to increase the abilites / cargo space of transport ships. Its highly dubious to me that all transport ships have lower cargo capacity than a mark V iteron. Also, blockade runners cant get through any gate camp that uses a warp bubble, so its really not a blockade runner, just an anti-warp scramble ship.
I would propose that blockade runners get a built in module to literally prevent warp scrambling via warp bubble technology - but still being able to scramble them if they get -3 warp strength applied to them and they use no extra stabilisers.
Secondly, on the subject of cargo capacity, raise the base cargo capacity of the non-blockade runners to the same level as the highest tech1 ship's capacity (eg. make an Occator have 6000m3 base).

Yeah I'd like to see some specialized small cargo blockade runners as well maybe a boost to the T2 ones already existing. Meaning that as the combat ships get more uber so should the Industrials cause well a chap still needs to make a living when all hell is breakin loose. Seeing as though Industrials are like pinatas for pirates and all.
Wouldn't mind seeing a few new ships, somethin sexy:

I wouldn't mind something in between a normal hauler and a full sized freighter. There's quite a huge gap between 38k m3 (Who does that anyway?) and 700k m3...
I'd also like specialized ships. Something specialized for ore/minerals, another for modules, etc.
