I saw that the other one got locked, but i'm still interested in gathering some anti-pirate or bounty hunter stories...I mean, after all this forum was intended for "bounty hunters and their prey" and now it's just a big circle jerk...
Anyway, I myself have a few anti-pirate stories, though mine are nothing noteworthy or epic battles.
Also in the last thread I saw someone mock the term "Anti-Pirate" because it's an oxymoron or something, truth is that's what it's called IRL as well. One of the missions of the Coast Guard, for instance, is Anti-Piracy. :P
Anywho, let the story telling commence.

Being an anti-pirate is really boring until you realise lowsec IS JUST AS DANGEROUS AS 0.0! Anybody can shoot at you in lowsec (especially if you're an outlaw!) which makes it VERY DANGEROUS to have neuts in local.
That is why I, and so many other anti-pirates have realised that the only way to survive in lowsec is to act under a NBSI policy. It also get's you more targets as blues are few and far between

I killed a ratting enyo in a belt, few minutes later hes back in a new enyo. So I warp in my stabber of doom and engage, and surprise surprise, local jumps by 8 or 9. Skirmished with teh anti-pirate blob for about 20 minutes all over the system, came out with my ship, 6 ship kills, and 2 pods.
Wait... that's not what you wanted is it? Either way, it made me laugh
And by the way, I rule you.

Well first off the Crime & Punishment section is actually only about Crime and Epeen Stroking. I recommend that there be a separate section for Punishment, maybe around the same time CCP finally fixes the bounty system and CONCORD.
Anti-Pie and Bounty Hunter stories could be interesting since they are so rare. It could start off something like...
"As the legend goes...In a time of great evil, a few brave warrior fought against the odds to bring justice to a corrupt and unlawful land..."

Does that make me anti-pie?

That's how my autobiography begins.
Of course it seems like it's going to end with "And then he went pirate and killed a bunch of people, only to be assassinated while having a beer in a station."

This one time, at anti-pirate camp, we saw a piewat. So we blobbed him, and he died.
Think that about sums it up. 'Course it also works the other way around too.. Gatecamps don't give the mission runner much of a chance either..

I used to be anti pirate, and it was plenty of fun but a bit frustrating when finding a nice target at a belt, hoping it would be a pirate only to find out it's a neutral npc'er...
Probably the funniest moment as anti-pie, was when we attacked a mining op in low sec (not very anti-pie-ish ), but these guys were from Griefers Alliance, who spent most of their time can baiting noobs in Kisogo. Ships killed: Navy Megathron with Gallente Mining Laser in high slots , Raven, Ferox, a hauler, 4 cruisers + 2 pods.

i was anti pirate for a long time, nothing epic either im afraid, but i did have many small fights.
me in mega, sitting in belt with one miner fitted and an named mining can, sitting there, waiting for people in there hacs/bc and cruisers to warp in to "pwn the miner" but my full t2 blasterthron made them leave in pods :)
was good fun

It's true - there are not many fights to be had as an anti-pirate.
One memorable fight I did have was a few months back in Obe or somewhere similar. I normally fly Caldari but had just trained for the Dominix and thought I'd try it out.
I kitted it up with T1 kit in a fairly standard nos-domi setup with maybe a named webber. Headed for lowsec to see who would shoot me.
As I jumped into the system I was locked and scrammed by a Megathron as his Apoc-flying friend started to take chunks out of my shield.
I launched a mix of heavy drones, put my own scram and nos on the Mega and waited, trembling.
It was such a close fight. I had the sentries on my side and followed their fire with the drones. I had a few successful jams against both ships and soon the Mega had no cap left to shoot with. However, with no injector fitted I was dependent on nossing the Mega, so when he ran out of cap my tank started to fail.
As my structure went down I prepared to warp my pod to a planet. But then the Apoc warped out! Sitting there in structure with no cap I watched my drones and the sentries blast the unfortunate megathron into dust. I quickly scooped the loot and my drones and warped to safety with less than 30% hull.
This was a good outcome - the megathron had been fitted with best named/faction kit!
My victory was slightly tempered the next day when I met the same duo again. This time they had a battlecruiser to help them and the Apoc stayed to fight. My poor T1 nos-domi was lost. The pirates were friendly enough after the fight and I had made a net profit.
I anti-pirate for RP purposes but it certainly means you have fewer fun battles. I think it is worth it though for the sake of character integrity.

Edited by: Major Stormer on 20/04/2007 09:22:56 Written by Darth Solo, was a kick ass battle:
can u fight 2 carriers and support with a gang of 7?
WHILE UNDER SENTRY FIRE? .
shad scouts a hostile chimera at p3en gate in OBE, he has some support, lechesis, thorax and some other crap.
Darth just came from nonni equipping a new arma, we have a few guys in OBE, these guys equip into BS asap as its decided we could possibly take him, yeah rite.
We all undock or warp to gate at 0k, we have at this point im sure 5 BS and 1 command ship, 1 arrived middle of fight.
we lock and aggress the carrier, he pops out fighters whcih we call primary alongwith the support, the support dies fast along with our sec status:), so does his fighters.
He withdraws his fighters in, we are all taking heavy fire from sentries, but nothing we cant handle, we ask for more help in corp, everyone is (The vile 'm' word):). the longer this is going on the more dangerous its becomming, we are all flagged on a gate, we have 0 scouts watching the usually busy route, we are taking a major chance but decide its worth it.
Now the local pirate corp that are based 2 jumps away are starting to notice what we are up to, and send in a few ships that are trying to hold us in place while we are NOS'd and shot. this works well, the only ships that can hit are the darths arma and our command ships.
CYNO, ermmm guys a cyno has just opened, sum numpty in our gang calls it as "hes jumping out", which he obviously cant do, oh my, its an Archon, its hillarious seeing a cyno upen up when u are all flagged and ****, thinking, wtf is comming through, it could have been a 20 man carrier fleet for all we knew:) while a frig catch fleet was on otherside.
Ok, now the boys are fighting 2 carriers and various other locals who seem to want to get involved, we call targets properly making sure whoever is scramd keeps getting out. we do a great job at this while focusing fire on the chimera, its into armour, its GONE.. ok guys, everything onto the archon, straight away we know the archon will be a hard nut to *****, its the best tanker of all carriers, but we give it a go.
zzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz, 20mins laters we are still shooting, we are low on ammo, and some ppl need 800 charges, darth flies to station for the 3rd time to rep armour and cap, while he undocks he sees ANTHER chimera, ack.. this locks him but amazingly does not fire. we are all flagged so no excuse not to other than he had small balls.
we all get back into the fight, now its becomming obvious we cant take this guy, plim is on route in a nos dommi, but he got lost trying to figure out how to use the map . local is getting BUSY, this is a major risk, but with 1 carrier already down we dont give a ****, we keep on it, majorstormer warps out to rep, while coming back to gate local exploded, some of us were scramd, ice calls this out, we get the details, 10 BS minimum from the bunnies.. can we take it:)?..... ermm no.
we all warp out to safe, some are scramd, looks like we will lose major and ice, major gets out, ice goes down, first in, last out, what a girl:).
good fun and lots of laughs.

I did some anti-pirate stuff: some carebears were screaming in local that some pirates were attacking them, so I warped in, killed three pirate cruisers (2 Rax and a Rupture), and as the carebears were thanking me in local, I then proceeded to kill their entire mining op. Good times.

Edited by: Presidente Gallente on 20/04/2007 10:34:35 To make a fact clear:
Anti-Pie is not a profession. It is a philpsophy.
I am realistic. If I run into low-sec or 0.0 solo I get definitely some smack talk like: +hey, presidente as*h*le. You can't hunt us if you hide.˝ Well, those guys like to provoke but they don't really understand my bio.
Overall you can cruise through low-sec solo like lots of pies do and have some success. But the pie or just corp/alliance side which don't like your presence is always more and you find more gate camps doing bad instead of protecting the good ones. Beeing a pie is a +profession˝ in EVE. Daily gate camps are mostly well organized and I have the feeling that the core team is a bunch of reallife neighborhood friends beeing online and ready at the same time daily. Without that reallife sync it will not work. And a pie gate camp has one major target: to get everything what comes through. An anti-pie camp would be boring because you have mostly nothing to gank and nothing big to earn ... more to loose and go back to missions then.
But Anti-Pie is definitely not boring. Anti-Pie or a corp name Pirate Hunters does not mean that I run through EVE all day long looking for targets. The major business is still: doing business and earning ISK. If you are not a pie you do it mainly by mission run or ratting.
To hunt pies in a system successfully needs the same organization like camping a gate at the end. Here we have one problem. Campers know what they do the next day. We can find that boring or not. They have a daily routine which works. A hidden Anti-Pie Force build of different corp members is more distracted by the members doing different tasks daily. So this force is waiting for some pies in local, they communicate and they take their chance to protect the system. This can work very well like camping a gate because the system is known for trouble and be safe due that. But it needs patience and should not be the main task of your day.
The pies have one advantage: they have much more weak targets. A camp will get some nice loot time by time. And we are not talking about some Millions ... we are talking about Billions. It must be - unfortunately - because they use faction fittings and quite expensive ships. They earn more ISK in short time. And in a gang they are strong. Hard to break a 12 pie camp all in BC, BS and a Carrier.
It's really easy at the end to hang around at a gate waiting for shuttles, frigs, industrials and some BC/BS solo. It would be sophisticated to break that camp if you are not trained on that daily. IMO hard to organize if you are not PvP all the time. Depending on your time EVE is not a game you are ready to be big in some weeks. It can take 1-2 years till you are a part of the top of the food-chain.
Death to all campers and no mercy to piracy! So say we all!

I have a good one...
Me and my buds are hunting a Myrm, Hurri, and BB and a possible punisher in my Myrm, 2 Hurris, and a possible drake (He was out of sys, we didn't know if he would make it in time). I am baiting at a planet, but it's becoming obvious that these guys don't want a fight, so we are probing them. Nature calls, and I leave for about a minute to go the bathroom (stupid I know but I REALLY had to go!) When I get back I'm being pounded by all of the targets.
I call 'XXX' in gang chat and hope for the best, turn tank on and start tanking...
I of course lag out and am unable to turn on my cap booster and my ENTIRE tank turns off... I am sitting there praying, I get back and I am well into structure, I turn my tank back on and start shooting at the myrm (by this time my mates were here). The fearless pirate hurricane *accidentally* warps out, and the dps on me decreases drastically. Now there is just a myrm shooting at me, as the BB is long dead, and I can easily tank him in my uberly rigged myrm =).
End result: 1 BB and 1 Hurricane dead for the prats, 0 losses for us, and me in 20 percent structure...
Also I could tell you about all the stuff that's happened while flying around solo in my ranis, but that'd take too long .
Also, on the Antipirate thing, I prefer to think of myself as 'Anti-baddy' basically meaning that it's part of my character role to hunt bad guys, kinda like a vigilante, and tbh you get a lot more good fights like that, as the stuff you shoot actually shoots back...

Edited by: Futher Bezluden on 20/04/2007 23:59:57 So waiting 80 minutes in an ac thrasher making 2000km away warp points to a station undock doesn't count?
Patric Murphy -KORKY- at the time was pretty good natured about it.
Found him docking his harpy just as I dropped out of warp. He wasn't going to undock any time soon with my thrasher sitting under the station 4km from where he would emerge. So I waited patiently... 10 minutes pass. He undocked a shuttle and starts spiralling, it will take him at least 8s to get his shuttle under control and warp off -he redocks. Another 20 minutes go by and I've made a point 800km to the side of the station... try the warp in and bounced 15km off the station. 10 minutes later, I'm 1300km under the station... warp to... damn, I'm above the undock bouncing around in the station structure. I decide to get above the station about 30km directly above the undock and set the point, warp down 1300km and for the next 10 minutes or so warp in a various ranges until I am firmly at the undock after I drop from warp and finish drifting.
A full half hour passes with me aligned upward to the station at 10m/s punching the scanner -set to 1400km- every 10s to see if he's undocking. Finally, I see his shuttle undock and disappear... if he's bugged for the gate, I'm screwed. I punch the scanner again 30 seconds later, hoping my ploy as worked and he redocked to get the harpy out. BINGO. Harpy on scan.
Knowing that Patric needs 8s to finish his spiralling undock and another 5 to align for warp, I punch for warp.
10km from me... 9km... he's spiralling and has tried to align 8km... approaching and locking -crap, mwd active. 7km... he's locked. Web and Scram disrupt propulsion. 4km... 6 200mm Autocannons tear away shields. 2 E5 nos begin draining cap. 3km... Harpy armor buckles, shells actually start passing through the ship. Capsule locked...
corpse
====== I thought I had faired pretty well against Patric's Harpy. I later was crazy enough to swap out the web for a T2 gallente specific ecm jammer and dueled Olixia's (KORKY at the time) Thorax with some nasty ec drones and wicked blasters. Between jamming each other -rarely at the same time- the duel lasted much longer than either of us expected. That is until I failed to jam her and her drones jammed me and 2 volleys from all of her blasters blew me up. Was a duel to structure, Olixia was good enough to sell me back what survived and left it in a can for a corpie to recover.
