5x Shield power relay II 2x Core De fence Purger II
Shame it can only fit like 3 launchers.
Manages around 3000 dps.

Edited by: Pottsey on 19/04/2007 21:32:39 Personally I would swap that setup to an Eos then use drones for damage. Then again I always did favour drones.
I have a similar setup on my Eos only I use Estamel hardeners Thermal/kinetic and 1 extender is swapped for a Archaeology module (so 2 less extenders over your setup). 1 relay swaped for a PDS then add gang assit 22.5% resistance to the high slot. Even with the Archaeology module its over a 3000dps tank.
Great tank. Decent DPS output and it does archaeology.
Perhaps you can do the same as me with your Nighthawk. Fit 1 PDS over 1 relay and then use that extra cap to power a assit 22.5% resistance gang module and get over 3000dps.
EDIT: Why can it only fit 4 launchers? If its PG just fit more PDS or shield rechargers over extenders. Perhaps useing 2 reistance modules will free up another PG for more weapons and lower your sig. Its best to fit your weapons then tank. Never skimp on weapons for extra tank unless youÆre the NPC tanker while everyone else kills. Passive shield tanking guide click here |

Is the Nighthawk better than the Vulture? I know it has one more low slot for SPR IIs, but the Vulture has better base resists. ---

The nighthawk has a better passive tank and has 5 lows while the vulture has 4. Run the numbers in quickfit. Also shield recharger IIs are worse than shield extender IIs. PDUs also do not provide enough power to fit any more launchers.
The only way to make it work is the swap one SPR II for an RCU II. Then you can fit 6 launchers.
As for the resists you can compensate for them easily if you know what you are shooting in advance. The dps on a vulture compared to a nighthawk is laughable.
Also this is supposed to be a totally passive tank so don't suggest putting modules that use cap in.

Quickfit doesnt take into account the 15% to shields from my mindlink or the resistances from the harmonizing warfare link.
Dropping an extender and adding a shield recharger doesn't really give that much difference afaik, the stats seem to come out the same. BIG Lottery |

Edited by: Kldraina on 19/04/2007 22:18:04 Hmmm... according to my math, the Nighthawk and Vulture are nearly identical in effective tank amount (1100 dps), but the Vulture has higher effective hitpoints (65k vs 86k) and more powergrid. This was using T2 modules, T1 rigs, full passive. ---

ôQuickfit doesnt take into account the 15% to shields from my mindlink or the resistances from the harmonizing warfare link.ö Make up a fake implant with 15% hitpoints or 20% if you have both hitpoint implants. Its not 100% accurate as I might get say 14759 in game and quickfit shows 14203 but its close enough to use. Not found a solution for resistance yet.

Sheesh, someone doesn't understand something, asks a question about it, and you call them an idiot? Give the guy a break already. If you don't want people misunderstanding what you're saying, even though you may feel the context is clear, then just say something like "I can achieve 3000 tankable DPS" as opposed to "I can achieve 3000 DPS".

1dude, nerd rage, chill mon.... no need for name calling.
anyway IIRC, the nighthawks resists aren't quite as good and the Vultures...
then again the vulture has nearly no DPS
but only 3 launchers? sure you can tank, but if you can't actually kill anything what's the point? honest question, and flame me, i dares ya.... I represent only my own views, they just happen to be the right ones. |

Though i can say that the vulture as a much better tank than the nighthawk. no i dont fly both, but i have tested versus a NH, and i tanked more. And nothing can realy kill a passive vulture solo. Though an active one will die eventually. It is realy the greatest bait ship there is.
tank = vulture
"damage"(hard to call it that sadly)= Nighthawk.

Has anyone got any idea how to optimise this sort of setup for missions? For that one has to fill up the highslots with launchers at the very least, even if no weapon mods can be fitted. I am guessing:
Nighthawk: 6 heavy launcher II/something (medium projectile?) 4x LSE II/magnetic scattering amplifier II 2x PDS II, 3x SPR II
I confess I haven't done the maths or used Quickfit. The reason I am asking is that I have the command ships skill, but not caldari cruiser V, which would take about 12 days (at IV at the moment).
I suspect this would be overkill for level 4, as I can manage some (haven't tried all, maybe all of them) in a passive Drake - or at least a Drake using nothing active but hardeners.
Any comments? ---------------------------------------------- "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent."

Shall i call you an idiot, because you've only got 3 launchers on a Nighthawk?
Shall i call you an idiot, because you're unable to reply in a friendly manner?

Just to point out, you mentioned about how it can only fit 3 launchers, and then said it can achieve 3000 dps. Learn to post in an understandable manner please.

If I had to judge by your response here, it sounds like you are incapable of posting maturely. Try to fit a maturity module in one of your common sense slots if any are available for use.

This is what I use on the Vulture. Not so impressive in pure tanking ability as the ones presented, but viable in PvP. I would appreciate opinions on how I could improve it (other than pimping modules, of course). The scrambler must stay, and I suppose a third SPR is out of question due to cap need for blasters, scrambling and warping. So, is there anything I could do? ---

Edited by: Dragon Lord on 27/05/2007 10:06:03 ok please explain how that setup can tank 3000dps because the best u can possibly get on a NH PURLEY passive, ie no module using cap is 357hp/s with ur lowest res being 70% in exp. This assumes u fit an estamel passive em hardner and have em comp at lvl5 as well has have max shield skills. Now this means it can tank 357/0.3 = 1190hp/s Now the vulture despite having high res still has its lowest resist at 70% in exp so its tank will infact be worse than a NH. Please note: this is with a 100% passive setup. Please dont give me setups with active modules as this doesnt count as passive. This is from quickfit and although it doesnt include any implants i dont see how you could possibly get this to 3000 tankable dps Unless of course your talking about tankable dps on ur highest res, but please what would be the point.

ôThis is from quickfit and although it doesnt include any implants i dont see how you could possibly get this to 3000 tankable dpsö Implants with gang skills mean 20% extra hitpoints, 5% extra recharge and 22.5% to all resistance on top of the ships base 25% to all resistance. Its makes a very large difference.
