I'm done with EVE, to many fun new games out there to pay for a beta subscription.
I was thinking about giving away my account. It's a nice account. Battleship, 6m+ SP, 50m+ isk, etc, etc...
Is just giving your account away acceptable? does it somehow violate cccp's policy?
and how do I choose? all my friends are gone already, all my corp mates are gone...
give me a reason...

Later Tabius, ty for the tools again :)
GL to you in your future endeavors.
But regarding the policy..
I don't *think* there is anything wrong with giving it away, but if you were to sell it and profit more then what you've payed CCP for it (buying the game, month to month fees) I can see them having a problem, because you profited off of their game more then they did you.
They have been banning Ebay sellers.. so.. be wise as to what route you choose to do.
But donating things to people is never a wrong choice.. *wink*

Quote from the EULA
Quote: 3. ACCOUNT TRANSFER
You are permitted to transfer once, to another person eligible to obtain an Account, all of your rights to your Account, subject to the following (an "Account Transfer"):
(1) You may not offer to transfer the rights to any Account except your own, or act as a ôbrokerö or intermediary (for compensation or otherwise) for anyone wishing to transfer or obtain Accounts.
(2) The transferee must obtain all rights in your Account in a single transaction, and you must retain absolutely no control or rights over the Account, or the characters, items or attributes in that Account.
(3) You must deliver to the transferee your Password, login name, player name and all information regarding your Account (other than personal information such as your credit card number).
(4) You must give the transferee the CD-ROM containing the Software and all original packaging and documentation (including the keycode on the jewel case) associated with the Account, and not keep any part of such materials or any copies thereof.
(5) You must give the transferee a copy of the EULA then in effect, and the transferee must, as a condition to accessing the System or playing EVEÖ through the transferred Account, agree to be bound by all of the terms and conditions of the EULA.
(6) You may not transfer the rights to your Account to any entity or person ineligible to have an Account under the EULA.
(7) You may not transfer the rights to any Account that contains characters whose attributes are, in whole or in part, developed, or which contains items, objects or currency obtained or acquired, in violation of the EULA.
(8) You must notify CCP, via electronic mail at [email protected], no later than five (5) days after the transfer, stating in your notice: (i) that you have transferred your Account and the date of transfer; (ii) your true name; (iii) your current postal address; (iv) your current e-mail address; (v) your login name; (vi) your player name; (vii) your Account number (if any); (viii) the transferee's true name; (ix) the transferee's current postal address; (x) the transferee's current e-mail address; and (xi) that you certify that you transferred all of your rights to the Account to the transferee, and that such transfer complies with all of the terms and conditions in the current version of the EULA.
If you transfer your Account, you will not receive a refund of any prepaid subscription fees for the transferred Account and, depending on when in the billing cycle the transfer is made, and when CCP receives notice of the transfer, you may be charged for an additional billing period.
Any transfer or attempted transfer not in accordance with the foregoing terms is prohibited and void, and shall not be binding on CCP. A transfer or attempted transfer of an Account is entirely at the risk of the parties to such transaction. CCP is not liable to any person (whether transferor, transferee or otherwise) for any acts, omissions, statements, representations, defaults or liabilities of the parties in connection with such a transaction.

I think you are allowed to give away your account if you contact CCP after 5 days. Its in the EULA somewhere.
Sad to see you go but I think its a very nice gesture to give away your account to a stranger.
Perhaps you can simply hold a lottery? Write down all the names that respond and pick one out of a hat?

Give it to me cos I'm ugly and need the isk for cosmetic surgery. Failing that I can use your Battleship to shoot myself (believe me it will take BS weapons to sort this face).
Or, failing that I can just beg, a lot. I have no isk and got my uninsured BS blown up, and have only an omen to mine in for a new one (thats no joke ). However I finish Uni in April and will be playing a lot more so a second (trained) account would be fantastic.
Failing my begging attempt you could just stick everyones name in a hat thats replied to your post and do a lottery....first one out the hat.

Edited by: Cleric Tycho on 29/12/2003 21:18:25 Hmmmmm, a reason. Well I am a one man corp (with alts) and have BS skills but no battleship. I used to have another member in the corp who was joint CEO, but then I also used to have 40mill isk in the corp wallet (donated to me by a friend who left) until said joint CEO decided to raid it. So another parting players generosity would get me back on my feet and allow me to "flick the v's" at my ex corp mate as 40mill is sqwat compared to what you are offerring.
OK, rant over . Failing that I agree with whats been said before, and lottery it off with everyone that replies to this post before, say, midnight - lets keep my chances up cos I never win this sort of thing (so you could just donate it to me, pleeeeeeeease /emote bats eyelids)

I can't think of a reason I should get it over anyone else I'm afraid (damn, note to self - must work on creativity). But I would really appreciate it a whole lot. So I suppose my best chance of getting it would be through a lottery of the first 20 entrants to keep everyones chances up, lol.

I would like to have your account, and I'll explain why.
Right now I am unemployed, or should I say "between money bouts at the same company I've been working for for 5 years now". Budgets come and budgets go, and the people get caught in the middle. I'll probably be back to work in late January, but until then I spend most of my day, every day, playing Eve.
I am still rather new to Eve, and therefore not going to burn out anytime soon. I'm still learning the mechanics of the game and having fun (despite the Castor mess).
I have started saving for a Battleship. I mine on my own much of the time, but I am a member of a small corp and my CEO let's me haul for him in deep space, and I get to keep a large portion of what I haul (on a successful run, that is - hehe). I have saved 24mil so far, and at the rate I'm going it will take me another month or so to get into a BS.
I don't participate in the PvP in Eve because I prefer human skill as the deciding factor in PvP rather than my ship's equipment. I do, however, make part of my living by dodging pirates or scaring them off, and a BS would certainly help on the latter.
When I get into a BS I plan to mine with it for income, for my corporation and for a reserve to replace the ship when I lose it.
I have been thinking of setting up a secondary Eve account anyway, so I could 2-box a miner/hauler. If I were to recieve your account it would help me dodge a lot of "wife aggro" that would come from purchasing another copy of Eve. hehe
If you gave the account to me I would "pay it forward" someday when I, too, am burned out on Eve and leaving the game. I would pass it on to someone at no cost to them, as you would have done for me.
Thank you for your consideration, Nalias

Edited by: HoberMallow on 29/12/2003 21:38:08 Started playing without much interest in joining a corp and was told its impossible to freelance after a while. Have now got to the point that I may have to join a corp, however a very generous gift from yourself could allow me to continue my freelance work, helping those in need, and beating those in need of a beating (rather than running away in my cruiser).
I would also use some of the isk to build a statue dedicated to your generosity, and would promise that should I ever leave eve (which Ican't see happening especially if I get a second account) I would follow your example and pass the account on. |

If you want I could arrange for you to drop by my station and I could give you a private "dance" or two, or three, or four, or however many it might take to convince you to pass on your account to me.
I could really do with a good...eh....second account |

It's always sad to see an old player go.
Good luck!
Oh BTW, if you want a free advice, don't give your account. Cancel it, maybe in some months you'll be interested again. YOu won't have to pay anyway, so you loose nothing _______________________________________________

I don't need your account, but I do have a little brother in law that's been wanting to get into the game.
I'd have him learn on an alt before taking out Tabius, but it'd be nice for him to not be 6M skill points behind everyone once he learned how to play.

Keep hold of your account and just cancel your subs for now. In 6 months or a years time you may want to come back and see what EVE's like.
Who knows, maybe it'll be the finished article by then!
Good luck.

Dear Tabius,
I am near the same position that you are in. However I have found a solution that I think you may feel comfortable with. The two people in the game that I would have to leave my stuff to would be: 1. The first person that helped me in the game. 2. The person that I helped get to bs status and I trust to this day.
You could fly around for a few days and work with a few n00bs to see who are decent guys, help them mine a bit, talk about ol stuff, you know. Right before you completely cancel tell them about your position, and that you think they deserver it.
Just an idea. I am not one that wants another account, nor do I need the isk. Just a thought. Good luck, sorry i did not have the opportunity to meet you.
