So a few of my pirate buddies and I are sitting around bored, when one of them exclaims "Osprey in 2-1! I'm going in!". We all chuckle on vent as a solo Osprey noob isn't worth undocking.
He scrams him, takes him down to structure and then ransoms him. He starts warping out and realizes the Osprey hasn't gone anywhere. "I'm OMW in!" I say, and warp in, and scramble him. Open a convo... "5 mil plz." After a little bit of back and forth, he pays me 4 mil.
I align to warp out and tell one of my mates to get ready to warp in. I'm out of the belt, and my THIRD buddy warps in, scrams him, opens a convo. He doesn't even finish typing his ransom demand. The guy just types something to the effect of "Yeah yeah, I know, 5 mil right?"
The Osprey pilot was so good humored about it, I gave him back his 4 mil I ransomed him for and told him he was ok to mine in the belt for the duration. We were laughing so hard on vent at this guy's misfortune that I almost put Coke in my keyboard. Twice.
Because I said so...

Moral of the story is, when you're ransomed - get out. Lest ye be ransomed again.

Was always my understanding (or maybe feeling is a better word) that once ransomed by some peeps in a given corp you were sorta off limits for a bit (30-60 minutes) from further ransom/gank attacks by the same corp. I mean having multiple corp members scram/ransom the same guy over and over seems little different than the same guy ransoming you then doing it again a few seconds later ad nauseum.
I know there are no "rules" to this and the OP is kinda funny (guy really should have scooted out of there) but still...hardly worth paying a ransom if peeps are just lined up to get you over and over.

That weary Osprey pilot was me. The whole incident was quite humorous and yes I was very good natured about it. When I first started playing EVE I really thought pirating was a evil and unfair thing, but I've come to realize and respect the pirating aspect of the game. I didn't take off out of there because I wanted my can I prolly would have came back with my hauler and tried to get it. I've lost my fair share of ships and I'm sure I've uttered the famous "I'm going to quit this stupid game", but that kind of attitude does more harm, so I've found dealing with the situations with humor smooth them over. Everybody who ransomed me and thought it was funny were very kind afterwards. I can appreciate this game much more when I run into a mature, seasoned community, and these guys were a great example of that.
With that said, please don't come looking for me for some quick cash, because I'm a little broke after the affair

Allow me to clarify- everyone who went in to ransom him was in different corps. There was no in-game connection between us corp or alliance wise. So technically we were abiding by the unspoken rule that once ransomed by a particular corp/alliance/gate camp etc. that you're ok for a few minutes to leave. This is how we all normally do things (let people leave that is).

See, it's this kind of attitude that I really appreciate as a player. I ended up giving him back the money I ransomed him for (don't know about the other guys), and I also helped organise a hauler to scoop his can (it was going to time out) and save his 13km3 worth of ore he'd collected.
Just because people are pirates doesn't mean they're ###holes. This guy was/is new, and not all of us are out to just completely destroy some noobs whole life's work in Eve in three seconds. Attitude is everything. Hence, we're now trying to convince him to become a pirate. He's too nice of a guy to be a carebear.

LOL! Thats hilarious.
Its one thing to find a pirate who will ransom you these days, but to find a pilot who will be lighthearted about the whole affair--thats unusual.
All the pirates I've stumbled upon don't worry about ransoming, just blowing me up.
Thats a lie, I found one, but he accidently blew me up, heh.

I am generally lighthearted about a ransom...especially since it is so rare these days. Almost a breath of fresh air really. It's the instagank I have a harder time finding the silver lining in .

QFT.
To the victim, I too appreciate your attitude in this whole affair. Your kind are quite rare among the Eve community now - pirate, carebear, and everything in between. Glad to see a good example.
