I was wondering around in space with my 15inch monitor thinking, I could buy 2 monitors at a cheap price and dual them with a adapter, or just buy a 20inch, but money doesnt grow on tree's unfortunately. It would be great with all you're chat panels and tools etc on the right hand side and the other side combat or other purpose tools.
Is this compatible with the game ? If not screw the damn patch with the walking in stations (Attracts WoW kiddies) and planets, and make something worth while :) (Put it to the point quite harshly)
I think myself and many others should agree that having some basics in the next major patch i.e dual adapting, lag problems, graphics update.
Just thought Id share my ideas :) and you...? - |

Ive seen screenshots of people running eve stretched over three monitors.
And on another issue, if ccp would not be able to multitask (i.e fix lag and create ambulation) then they wouldnt be where they are today and they wouldnt have the opportunity of becoming a prominent game developing company on the market (instead of just the creator of eve online).

Edited by: Darius Shakor on 22/04/2007 09:54:27 Using two monitors will just stretch the entire game across them, not split windows from game screen. You will end up with your ship split in half between the two monitors and it will not look good.
I use two monitors but I only have the game on one screen running in window mode, and use the other screen for out of game stuff like web browsers and such. ------

thats my point, you can change and make it compatible within eve to let it have to monitors not stretched, but done as if you could just have a larger portion of space without stretching it, if you follow me... - |

I wish EVE would allow chat-windows and maps, and stuff like that on a second monitor, and just the gamescreen/hud on the main. That would be so WIN.

I use dual 19" LCD's, love it to death, especially while mining and whatnot.

I've got two 19" LCDs too. They each have their own graphics card too, which is important as two Eve clients can get chuggy with just one, esp. if your comp is doing other things at the same time.
And having two Eve clients is the shnizzle tbfh.

Ya, it would be fantastic if there were a way to move all your utility to a second moni. Map, Chat, scanner - I know there would be ways to do this, but they all involve a second client.

Dual Widescreen > Widescreen > Dual 4:3 :p
I run two clients at 1600x900 (1680x1050 res on each screen), with either one on each screen, or one on the left and web browsers/whatever on the right. Works best for me, tbh.

I run EVE windowed (via eveMON) on one screen while i browse forums or use spreadsheets to track my POS/research, etc. Or play videos. Or download ****. Whatever makes those long trips on autopilot go faster. ☼☼☼ Life's a *****, then you get podded ☼☼☼

I have 3 LCDs running over 2 GeForce 7900 cards. You PROBABLY dont need that much power, a pair of 660s would work too.
The trick is, you MUST use Nvidia cards. The driver has an option to horizontally span the desktop over the screens making the PC think it's one stupidly wide monitor.
I'm planning to get a 5 panel array in the near future to try to push this concept further.
But in all honesty, once you go multi-screen, there is NO going back. 3840x1024 resolution is awesome. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- RABBLE! RABBLERABBLE!! MMORPG: Many Men Online Role Playing Girls |

Uh, it's actually windows that does it, so you don't need an nvidia card. Or atleast for 2 monitors that is. I've never actually used 3 myself.
But yeah, dual screen = win. I run both of mine on 1280x1024, eve runs windowed on 1280x960 so that leaves just enough room for the taskbar. I do all my browsing and stuff on the other screen. I wish I could drag chat windows and stuff over to the other screen though. That'd clean up alot of space. Maybe have it like Phototshop where the hud are all individual windows that can be dragged all over the place and are not kept within the boundries of the program itself. (If that makes any sense... If you know PS, you'll know what I mean.)

What about higher than 1024 vertical resolutions?
I have 2x 22" Samsung 226BW's arriving tomorrow which run at 1680x1050. Granted its only 26 more vertical pixels but has anyone done this or higher?
If i add a third that would be 5,040x1050.... what if I get lost?
Do you have a problem where something happens over one side and you don't see it cause you're looking somewhere else? |

Here's a nifty thing allowing you to run 2 or 3 monitors with only one gfx card and conceivably any sort of card

Good discussion, as I'm pricing up an upgrade to the cobweb-filled museum piece I currently use as my PC. Definitely pondering the dual monitor route, but might not do the span-across-both thing. Maybe just have it so the client fills one, freeing up the second for use with other things (second client, teamspeak clients, etc.)

Unfortunately the triple head won't be an option with 22" as they run at 1050 not 1024. AFAIK it should be easy with an SLI setup? |

These are pretty good for multi screen.
I have a Command Centre and it is awesome if you have the budget.
