I think that when you're working with planets, the system should give you a warning that says "One of your factories' output paths has not been routed! This factory will not produce anything if it is not routed properly! Are you sure you want to continue?" in the event that, as described, there's a factory on your planet that doesn't have its output path activated or connected to any warehouse or launchpad, and when you click Submit, the system warns you of the error so that you don't end up wasting materials.
I'm sure this has happened to more than one of us.
You're setting up your planet. You've got everything hooked up and routed properly...
...except you forgot to route your factory's output path to your warehouse or launchpad.
Now, all the materials that go into the factory get devoured, but nothing gets produced because you forgot to route the damn thing.
How many days has it been? Two? Three? More? Given that materials are produced every 30-60 minutes, that's [redacted] of wasted materials, time, effort, potentially ISK...
So, with this little warning in place, I think this could save alot of people some serious headaches.
Recommendations:
-enable ships wobbling in hangar view (pre-Captains Quarters)
-add more missions (NPC fleet vs. NPC fleets that actually shoot)
-STOP NERFING EVERYTHING!

In real life mistakes have consequences - why not in game? As someone who does a LOT of pi I have forgotten to route extractors after moving them many times and somehow manage to survive the error. It's part of the game.
When setting up a new planet you should route everything through a storage unit or launchpad - then you simply need to check routes to/from the storage unit to make sure everything is routed. |

Same Problem as if you forget to turn on your hardners flying in a hard site. There you also get no warning. You get a notification in form of a killmail.
Rather than making such a small adjustment CCP should overlook the whole PI to make it better. |

Pro Tip: when set up new PI it is good idea to check within 2-4 hours to see if it work proper
It happen to me as well, I forget to route P3 from storage to P4 factory. Find myself missing about 10 of P4 due to this incident |

This could be solved if the command center or a launch pad would serve as a default storage unit, so everything that isn't routed would go there. Another routing problem happens when you change the stuff you extract/manufacture, because it resets the route. Why can't we give the "whatever comes out of you, send it to X" order to our buildings?
If you want an intelligent argument, please do, I'm up for it!
But if you want a trolling contest, I will win it by simply not participating.

The whole of PI needs an overhaul, I prefer the idea of using the new citadel structure types to accomplish this
Add a planetside 'citadel' with factory, extractor and storage services. Rigs on PG, CPU and yield (maybe). |
