why couldn't you have just put salvage items in as loot and leave the lootcan system ? You talk of 'need for speed' but seem to keep slowing the game down by things like this . It takes twice as long to run a mission now , as opposed to the old lootcan system . Also you would not need to fit salvagers , as if we have enough slots already . Or on certain ships , have dedicated slots for Salvagers and Tractor Beams , and those slots are not usuable by any other fitting . Which could help to speed things up a little . That way , those extra slots would not count against the ship , as if they didn't exsist . Just a thought

Ehmm, the Need For Speed thing is to reduce lag, make NPCs harder to kill and reduce their numbers. It have nothing to do with you doing missions faster --- It have always fallen to a few to sacrifice for the good of many

Just use a destroyer to salvage. 4 tractors plus 4 salvagers and salvage rigs is the win.

I'm sorry if this is a bit of a basic question, but...
Do tractor beams only work on cargo pods or can they be used to pull wrecks into range, etc?
Thank you, Psadu

Tractors work on wrecks.
Cormorant:
High: 5 X Salvagers, 3 X tractors ((Once I get salvage skills up a bit, I'll switch a salvager for a tractor Mid: Afterburner, 3 X Cap Recharger I Low: Cargo Expander Rigs: 1 X Salvage Tackle ((Salvaging takes too long sometimes, I'm impatient, I know it's a useless expense, screw you, I can be lazy ::Nod nod::)) 2 X Cargo Expander Rig ((No, I don't know the name)).
Keep in mind though the reason for the focus on cargo size for me is becuase I loot AND salvage using the same ship, and those Cap Booster 800's take up tons of space ((Did I mention I'm a packrat that's OCD about looting EVERYTHING?))

I also use a destroyer (Thrasher) for salvage. Just bm the different rooms and come back after you complete the mission. Personally, I prefer a nano and inertia stab in low rather than cargo expanders. Yes, sometimes I have to leave behind metal scraps or even cap boosters, but I get through looting and salvaging much faster. Also, I use ab, I know a lot of people use MWD, but you don't really need it unless you have those cargo expanders slowing you down.

I just fit a Salvager and go. My mission ship of choice is the Rokh, so giving up one slot on a mission boat isn't really killing me. Now that I'm running a new setup on the Rokh that uses an MWD and blasters instead of hybrids and AB, its even less of a headache.
For deadspace missions, I just fit the AB, and get over it. Its going to take a bit of time to loot up.
This is my sig, there are many others just like it. With me, my sig is worthless. Without (or with even) my sig, I am worthless... |
