I fly an Armageddon, and fit it with a little ECM, so I have something to fall back on if I'm ganked during a mission. Yes, yes, I know, OMG DPS DPS DPS!
Still, I feel a little vindicated since such a thing happened when I warped to the sun to repair some armor on an especially nasty level IV, and some Vagabond rolled in, started ramming my ship, and dumped drones, you name it on me. I jammed em, tried to warp out, was rammed again, but on the second jam (mind you, armor was 40% when this gank started), I warped out.
I tried to say something polite and sporting to the pirate, but no response. 
So, anyone else fit a little ECM on their mission boats, just in case?

Not sure exactly how fitting a ECM affects your dps  Unless you consider a tracking computer helps..
Anyway when I used to run missions I didn't bother fitting a ecm, just aligned to a safespot (this was in 0.0).

Hehe. What I meant was that the medslots would normally be put to use maxing out the ship's combat performance, by, say, cap rechargers or the like (I still carry two).
Still, anyone else? Feedback, experiences?
On a side note, do ECM drones help in the same fashion, in practice?

Firstly: After the ECM nerf it really doesn't do much except against a ship that's gonna take 5mins to kill you anyway, like the Vaga.
Secondly: You were lucky it was only 1 ship that jumped you. 2 and your ECM wouldn't have kept you from warping out and you might have been taking much more damage.
Thirdly: You warped to a SUN from a losec mission? Nooo! Align to hisec gates and stations.

Your post makes 0 sense.
If you want to use ECM on geddon - ECM drones are very viable...
If you mean fitting a jammer in one of your 3 midslots to have a grand chance of ~5% of jamming your opponent, I'd say you need to give me some of what you are smoking.

Well, I am expecting feedback here.
Do drones just "break" the lock, or do they actually jam them for a few seconds? I know in real human conditions breaking the lock might be enough to throw them off, but still.
Oh, and be nice.

Drones work exactly the same way a directed ECM does, except they are effective on non-ECM ships.
Meaning drones jam for 20 seconds like a target jammer.
And regarding being nice - I /do/ want some of what you were smoking when you fit an ECM jammer mod on a geddon with the current state of ECM. I mean... there's nothing wrong with being stoned :D

Meh, sue me! I'm a gambling man (in EVE anyway) and I was a high roller twice in a row last two gank attempts.

i guess with nos you can chase the vaga away, and like lucus said, just allign in missions to a safespot, so when **** hits the fan, you can chicken out in time

I want a timer when ECM Drones hit me and not for me to spam the lock button on my overview...
..Err anyways to the OP: There are few things that will help you more, the above mentioned ECM Drones is one.
