Edited by: Illistar DeathWing on 25/04/2007 02:32:39 How effective are these ships for solo pvp? Right now I am about a week away from being in one, however they aren't exactly cheap so I'm wondering how good they can solo in pvp.
Should I train up for a hac instead? I already have most of what is needed for a hac as well, I only need to train up covert ops skill for recon, or assault frigate skill for hac, and I'm not sure what would be better for some solo pvp fun.
I forgot to mention this is for galante ships.

Caldari - Both recons are craptacular for solo. Excellent for gangs
Gallente - Limited solo, mainly due to low damage output.
Minmater - Gang support mostly, but solo possible
Amarr - Curse OMGWTFBBQPWN almost anybody solo. Pilgrim only slightly less useful in solo.

Edited by: Ryysa on 25/04/2007 02:40:03 For solo pvp, recon ships are quite effective, however they excel at given roles.
1. Curse - Especially in nanoed up form is very effective in killing npc hunters in belts etc, basically anywhere where they can't slowboat back to a gate or station and dock/jump, since you have no web. Also can fit probe launcher.
1.1. Pilgrim - Also very adept at carebear ganking, albeit due to the fact that most carebears will safespot when they see you in local, a speedfitted curse tends to net you more kills. Pilgrim is however the best ship to grief some carebears who you really dislike, just go afk cloaked in their system, and if they're npcing again when you're back... well... you know what to do
2. Huginn - In nanoed up form for engagements at gates, great at killing hacs and cruisers of any kind. Generally this is the ship if you are looking for exciting fights and forcing people to fight, rather than ganking carebears for their loot.
3. Lachesis - Hauler ganker. No other ship bar interdictor in 0.0 will ruin the day of more haulers than this sucker.
So, take your pick. Most other recons either lack firepower, tackling ability or survivability in a hostile environment to be good solopwnmobiles.
As for recons vs hacs. Recons are much better than hacs in a solo pwnmobile role, and when properly fitted for solo will in fact kill most hacs.
Also, I would like to point out one of the most deadly roaming duos - speedfitted curse + speedfitted huginn.
Edit: Now that you mentioned gallente. Unless ganking haulers is your thing, you should train for HAC. A speed fitted ishtar is a very viable solo mobile. Has twice the dps of the curse, larger drone bay, albeit lacks the nos ability. Can also be made to move at a faster speed.

I would not mind training amarr cruiser 5, however all these talks of a nos nerf makes me worry that when I'm done training it, the ship is no longer effective.
My drone skills however are very good. (drone interfacing 5, t2 med drones, etc)

If you already have gallente cruiser 5, as I said, speedfitted ishtar is awesome.

Edited by: Ozstar on 25/04/2007 11:30:41 The Rook doesnt solo well, sure it could prevent anything smaller than a BS locking it but it doesnt deal enough damage.
The beauty of Recons is that most of them get missile bonuses and shield tank, almost like they were designed for a caldari pilot

lol. if you fit a recon with anything other than elec warfare (desinged specifically for the ship) is enough to make the person popping your arse cry with laughter at the end.
seriously. if you tank up a falcon and dont use ecm ill happily take you in my ishkur.
edit: typing in a quote, almost as smart as using the med slots of a force recon to tank.

What i was referring to is the slot layout of recons, if a person chose to put a tank on one (i wasnt saying they should, or that i do) then it would suit shield tanking over armor tanking.
Dont point out the obvious to look intelligent, doesnt work.
