lol. Was about to post some suggestions 'til I noticed your corp.
I'd suggest talking to Perrin Abarra in EPA for a Geddon load-out for piracy. He is the only rat I've encountered who afaik currently uses one.

There is one rat with Space Invaders who uses one too.

Use the highest ammount of heatsinks + tachyons, thats your pvp setup...
You can only gank in a arma with alot of backup. __________________________

But dont fight alone since your cap runs out crazy fast only good when camping with a buddy.
Edit : dont bother with tachyons when camping since you need to be in less than 20km range so choose weapons (opt range) according to where the opponent will be, and every miss on tachyons hurt your cap bad and you end up dying often. Spawn of the Devil

Edited by: Gai2 on 01/01/2004 05:03:40 I looted a Dual Anode particle stream the other day. And I start looking into dual heavy beam. Believe it or not, dual heavy beam is a gun that actually fit Armageddon very well for overall damage and cap usage.

I once took on 2 Armageddon's in my Scorpion.
I had one of them jammed/warp-jammed while firing on the other - I thought my Scorpion would destroy the Arma before I got destroyed but I was wrong. He was tanked out and I only just managed to get his shields down before I decided I was taking too much damage and had to bail out with a flaming ship
That was before Castor changed the crystals/lasers though.
*He wasn't using tachyons either. Looked like pulse lasers with radio crystals.

What about using projectiles (to vary damage types away from standard beam Therm / EM) ...
This should free up cap to use for shields and hardeners in the mids .. also free up low slots (less need for cap rechargers / heat sinks) to put more defensive measures in (anti jamming and warp core jobbies) ??
Would that work? -TT

You're just flying a really crappy tempest then.
I've seen some good armor based Armas on chaos. People seem to be more willing to try new things when the ships are free
Remember, 2nd, 3rd and even lower tier lasers aren't anywhere near as bad as their projectile and hybrid equivilents.
Find a balance between your armor and damage that suits you.

Also ask the people in PIE about using Armaggedons in PvP. As a role playing corporation with a tight rule of using only Amarrian ships, they have evolved tactics and coordination to exploit and compensate for characteristics of Amarrian ships. They have good success in using ships like the Armaggedon in battle, even in engaging ships like the Scorpion and the Tempest.

Well, it's not hard to engage scorps or tempests in apocs now with their uber capacitor. They can shield tank as well, if not better than my Scorp (I've tested this on chaos a few times.)
Caldari ships just keep getting nerfed...
I was killed by an apoc while running a scorp with 2 EM hardeners, 2 thermal, 1 kinetic, XL booster, and a shield amp... though it did go down to last volley wins... |

That doesn't sound encouraging since I do have a similar setup on my Scorp.
With the crystal nerf (Radio Ls only have 24 damage instead of 32) I just wonder what that Apoc has, since it's got enough turret slots to use include both proj and hybrid weapons along with the laser mix. I do have the suspicion you probably overtaxed your cap reserves.
By the way, PIE has been engaging with Apocs and Armas in PvP even before the cap boost on the Apocs and Armas, but then crystals were also stronger than than now.

I probably would have won if I had used a large cap booster in place of the kinetic hardener, but that takes up missile space, and also I was fighting at 20km and less... I should have been at 60km, which I usually am :)
I was at 20km because we were testing HIS config which had an optimal of 25-10km.
I do like the range nerf on crystals though.. I can hit for 180 with 425 rails with uranium at 60km and tachyons only hit me for about 20-80 a shot. |
