Hi folks,
just a little question from me. As of the last big patch the nanofiber didn't boost the speed of a ship any more. Thus, I want to know which advantage I have if my ship mass is reduced? What is the difference between the nanofibers and the inertia stabilizers?
Greetings, Vik

AFAIK mass affects acceleration while inertia/agility affects, well, its agility (ie. ability to turn etc.)

Edited by: Aramendel on 26/04/2007 08:09:59 -1% inertia and -1% mass improves your agility by exactly the same amount. There is NO distinction between acelleration and agility. Same thing.
In addition to this -1% mass also boosts your MWD speed by roughly 1%. Improves AB performance, too, but is less effective there.

So we can say that nanofibers and inertia stabilizers are "somewhat" the same but with different disadvantages? nanofibers reduces the hull as inertia stabs increases the signature radius.
hmm...

1. local hull i-stab : -20.00% 2. local hull i-stab : -17.38% 3. local hull i-stab : -11.41% 4. local hull nanofi : -10.00% 5. local hull nanofi : -08.69% 6. local hull nanofi : -05.71% 7. local hull i-stab : -05.66% 8. local hull nanofi : -02.83%
if you're slapping rigs onto the ship, the order gets shuffled around, though

Edited by: Topaz Skydiver on 26/04/2007 09:31:47 Don't know, if ship mass / nanofibers have any effect, if mwd/ab is turned off.
Currently I see it like this: - Inertia stabs effect agility (turn speed/max orbitting speed and acceleration/time to get into warp), but never top speed
- nanofibers affect top speed with AB and MWD turned on and probably also have a positive impact on orbitting speeds with ab or mwd turned on. With AB/MWD turned off they seem to have no impact (but I've never measured it to be sure).
Btw.: if you want to use a speed fitting with speed rigs and want mass reduction, then you'd fill the rig slots with polycarbon engine housing rigs and exchange some nanofibers for overdrives. Mass reduction rigs are better then their mod counterparts, for overdrives it's the other way around. Makes the choice easy.

aye basically nanoships have been cut in half by about 40-60% which has balanced the whole thing out still with the right setups u can still do a decent speed
